App is definitely down. As others have reported, user is informed the app is out of date and then it won't update. Message says 'not available in your region'. EBay appears to be in denial about this outage. I have a Chinese phone. Wonder if it's connected to US-China trade war?

According to a post on the UK community boards, the latest version of the eBay app requires Android 10 or later, or iOS 17 or later.

If you cannot upgrade your operating system or find an older version of the app that works with your current operating system, you should still be able to use a browser to go to ebay.co.uk instead.

If eBay browser links are opening in the Android version of the app automatically, you can disable that by going to your device Settings: Apps: eBay: Open by default: Opens supported links and choosing "Don't open in the app". iOS users can tap and hold an eBay browser link and choose "Don't open in the app".

What? Why not just reinstate the previous system? IT madness. EBay management has clearly made a massive misjudgement. But, genuinely, thanks for the time and effort. Much appreciated.

Hi All,

Tech have confirmed the latest report of the app not working is not a technical issue. Sometimes, to ensure that you are using the latest version of eBay, we require you to update your app version. Please uninstall and reinstall your app, and then log back into eBay as normal. That should rectify the situation. If this does not work, you may need to upgrade your OS version and then reinstall the eBay app. In the meantime, you can also access ebay.co.uk via your desktop or mobile web browser.

Thank you for your post.

The recent app update requires operating system android 10 and ios 17. If you have a a version lower than these then its not compatible. You can still continue to use eBay via ebay.co.uk on your mobile or desktop browser. Please see more details here.
