App not working

App not working, says update and won't.  Just stuck in a loop of trying to update and it saying it has the latest version. Whatever you did put it back the way it was

It’s all just maddening. I understand that us dinosaurs on anything under iOS 16 are able to use the browser, but it’s a profoundly poor substitute for the app! It’s just not good enough. There’s literally no chance of me buying a new iPhone/iPad just so I can use the eBay app, especially seeing as it’s the only app that so far has this problem. And this browser is like being back in 2008! I’ve got items for sale and don’t get any notifications. Its been like a week now, just make it right.

Thanks, but I’ve tried it several times. I’m on iOS 15.8.3, and any time I try those steps, the app just keeps telling me “This version has expired. Please update your app now”. Which obviously I can’t.

Yes i had the same on ios 15.8.3, but got it to work following those steps on zafari. I had no luck trying it through Google. Good luck!

What about those that ARE on 10 & above OS & have uninstalled/reinstalled the app, cleared cache, toggled to allow access to ALL albums & have the latest version?   Yet it still doesn't work like it did post 4th Feb ? Can't find an answer.  I am Android OS14 yet upon listing it shows a choice of 4 albums.  Before this I had access to every album so did many other users who are on iphone or android too .  I think users are sick of updates causing issues & being told its a device issue when it's clearly a technical issue with the  app. This was not happening last week & you've also removed the browse button whee you browse for extra albums in the gallery it's completely vanished! .   Losing lots of users because other platforms are better. Every time there's an update there's a problem that remains unresolved for weeks. Surely a billion $  company should have the best software engineers.  Very frustrating. I can't list on the website either as the photos just flicker.  A full investigation & response would be appreciated by your loyal 15 years + users. Kind regards

Totally agree. They blame devices but I'm on Android 2023 Samsung OS14 & the minimum needed for the update is OS10. I'm way above.  As are many other users. Constantly fobbed off. It's the same every time there's a post update issue.

Hi I no it's a pain in the butt I found I can get ebay if download it through chrome  but it's still not the same you have to keep logging in ....on the old app it there but it's the message which keep coming up to update  I'm sure eBay just needs to remove the message  to keep us all happy this has been my problem for almost  a month now come and help us all am sure you can understand all our frustration  come on eBay.........Sent from my Galaxy

Thanks Kate. I'm using an older Android phone too and getting same issue. I have no intention of throwing my phone away as it still serves me well and throwing away perfectly good devices is a global problem I'd rather avoid contributing to. Maybe Ebay can embrace the battle against built in obsolescence rather than contributing to it. Your company does, after all, sell a lot of secondhand goods.

No longer an issue for me as my lovely wife bought me a newer model early birthday prezzie but i`m guessing you all received this update email from Ebay today?

Thanks for replying.  I think most users in the forums are aware of these announcements but the gallery issue still persists & needs a permanent fix. No amount of uninstall/ reinstalled works. I'm on OS 14 so I'm way above the necessary requirements. There's been other app issues like no postage options since the alleged " simple" update. We all still await a response from Ebay regarding the actual fix .

Agree. I've uninstalled/  reinstalled. All up to date & on OS14.  Been waiting for a fix for nearly 2 weeks.  The announcements buy time whilst Ebay figure it out but there's no timescales. . I still can't list or browse all my galleries.  Postage options still playing up too. The updates don't simplify anything they stop features working

Hi,



EBay emailed me to basically confirm that older operating systems are not
supported. So, we need to uninstall the app totally from those devices and
just access EBay via website.



So, reading between lines, don't expect them to fix the app - just older
devices no longer can use app and, as long as have app installed, they won't
be able to access EBay because the app "intercepts" online EBay logins on
our device browsers.

This info is completely wrong unless your OS is below 10.  This issue is also now fixed. Just uninstall reinstall.  Go to apps Ebay settings & clear cache. Worked for me & many other users in the forums. It was a known & reported technical issue deapite ebays announcemebt a week ago .  So anyone on devices OS8 & above can follow the above steps without the need to just use the website !
