third party collection, proof of pick up

I have sold a chair to a buyer with zero feedback, registered on ebay in 2020. They have arranged a shipping company to collect. i will ask them to sign on collection, but could this be a scam? Can the buyer claim they didn't recieve it or its damaged. They are due to collecty this morning so I am very nervous about what to do, as I coudl refund them but it is very short notice, woudl that be OK?

Because buyer arranged courier they invalidate MBG, so if they complain you don't have to refund them.

This is why buyers should always collect in person & pay cash.

• Collection items damaged during shipment when shipment arranged by the buyer
• Items collected by a third party on behalf of the buyer
• Items not collected by the buyer

Thanks so much. I have read that by sending a third party they are not covered but there still seems to be so many comments on here advising against allowing it as ebay always favours the buyer. It is just the zero feedback that is making me extra nervous.

We normally advise not to allow buyer to send courier.
Also although you can't refuse paypal, cash on collection is always best for buyer & seller.
