I sold an expensive piece of clothing on ebay on the 28/11/2020 with direct shipping to buyers address in Canada (I am based in UK). PayPal/ebay told me the item was paid for (I did not realise it was an e-cheque and it was not made clear on ebay). The item was sent the following day fully tracked internationally to Canada. After I told the buyer that the item had been posted and with the tracking number the paypal e-cheque was declined and bounced back. I did everything possible to get the item back after it had already been posted the but both Royal mail and Canada Post said they couldn't do anything. The buyer kept saying it was PayPal's fault and that he had tried to pay. I told him to call PayPal to sort it out, however by this time I suspected he was going to run with it. He then said I will try to pay after Christmas more than 3 weeks after payment was declined, and did not reply to any payment reminders as I said wiating till chritsmas is too long. I threatened with escalation to which he confirmed he had received the item and said quote (word for word) "I dont have mobey now as i bought a airplane ticket, europe situations is very critical. No jobs, no money. I will just consider it as a Christmas present from you .God bless you" I asked him to return the item that he had not paid for and I would pay for the return postage. He then replied quote (word for word) "I cant because it was a Christmas gift for my employer son now i cant ask for gift back. If it would have been for myself it would have been a diffrent story" - Total rubbish. He has essentially stolen £250 from me and rubbed it in my face showing he knows he will get away with it without any repercussions. I have evidence of all of these messages on ebay and in my emails. I will try to contact paypal/ebay again but they have been extremely unhelpful.
