With the changes to VAT, customs duty, courier additional charges because of having to collect VAT etc, Ebay needs to look at its policy for Sellers locations. All too often I have bought items from who I see from their listing are based in London only to find they are actually in China and sending items from there. We are then getting hit for for extra cost when the item comes into the UK. This is unfair on the seller who only has Ebays seller location details to go by. Are Ebay then liable for misinformation and should have to pay he costs? Probably not, but if a seller is listed as being in the UK, but is not, why is ebay allowing this?
Even with items listed as located (point of sale) within the UK, if the buyer or seller is Registered or Based anywhere outside the UK, (so not a UK <> UK sale), 20% VAT is applied ...
Check their Feedback profile for Seller Based Location. also check the Site of Registration (they can often be very different) by using their >> 'View Listings/Items for sale' < links and scroll to > 'Seller information' < field in Left Hand Column = Country of Seller Registration.
