Has anybody started to sell on "Onbuy" in the UK because of eBay's stupid "Managed Payments"

Are sellers signing up to "Managed Payments" that eBay are dictating that we should do or they will limit our accounts ?

They have already stopped me from listing new items because I refuse to sign up.

Also, I've heard that you don't get paid for 2 - 5 days & I'm afraid if I'm forced to sign up, I won't post any goods till I've been paid.

Even if sellers have moved to another site, we can't comment, unless we want to be banned from ebay.

Come now, you never had freedom of choice.

When eBay and PayPal were the same company you had to use PayPal - now they're not, you have to use the financial entity known to eBay UK users as eBay SARL.

There are plenty of people selling on other sites - have a guess how long sellers wait for their money on Amazon? I think you'd be shocked.

I wouldn't entertain Amazon & as per ebays policies, I post sameday or when funds are cleared, and until its in my bank, it's not cleared.

I looked at 1 of your listings, it says posts within 1 day of payment.
If you wait until money is in your bank, you will get lots of item not received cases opened & as you only have 3 days to prove delivery will be in deep doo doo!

That has never been eBay's policy, it has been PayPal's.

In fact eBay and PayPal both have various policies in place to delay payments reaching sellers, the 21 day hold policy, the reserve balance policy to name but two.

You have a good business there - don't spoil it by allowing misinformation to influence you. I've told you how to maintain your policy of only posting when you've been paid, extending your dispatch time, but that's really shooting yourself in the foot.

Managed payments is safer for you than PayPal ever was or will be.

People don't like change - when PayPal was made mandatory there were an awful lot of sellers posting threads like this one.

If I decide to to join "Manged Payments" I would change my postage terms to suit the amount of time it takes ebay to put the funds in my account SIMPLES

Cool, but don't use simples, I'm fairly sure that ad is responsible for the mass culling of meerkats somewhere.

eBay are rebirthing PayPal, but this time they're moulding it into a payments processor that only handles eBay transactions thereby giving them massive additional revenue without increasing fees.

The difference between PayPal and managed payments is pretty negligible now - within a year it'll be non existent. eBay have already created different financial entitites for each of their sites. They've sourced credit organisations willing to offer interest free payments to buyers, they've sourced capital investment companies to provide working capital loans.

In other words, they're doing everything they did when they crafted PayPal into what it has become today.
