Hi, I've listed an authentic Rolex watch for sale and had a buyer 'buy it now' without any questions asked which seems suspicious. If you were about to spend roughly £5k on a watch surely you'd ask me something.
Anyway that aside they are asking me to log into paypal and send them an invoice? Should I trust them or is this some kind of scam? They seem to have feedback as a buyer for 6 other items.
Thanks!
OMG a scammers paradise. A £5000 watch you propose to post by a postal method for items up to £50. (Second Class signed For)
Even Special Delivery only covers up to £2500. Don't you realise that scammers look for signs of inexperience, if lost or damaged you have to refund the buyer, but do you really think you would get any compensation from Royal Mail.
You would do best to list as Collection only and CASH PAYMENT preferred, as a paypal payment can easily be claimed back by a buyer by claiming not received and you end up with nothing.
If you don't protect yourself then no one else will.
I'm relieved to hear it...!
Before you list anything else, get yourself a Royal Mail price guide (from any Post Office, or download one from royalmail.com) so that you know what you're doing in future. Unless you buy the correct postal service, ie. one to fully cover the item's value, Royal Mail (or any carrier) won't pay out a single penny in the event of loss or damage in transit, but you will have to refund the buyer in full. Be aware too that not everything is insurable - all carriers have exclusion lists, so always check before listing anything that isn't for personal collection only. 🙂
