sellers! "awaiting payment" option has now gone

yesterday I accepted an offer from a buyer.  When she hadn't paid for 24hrs I went to the selling page on the app, and also the "manage your sales" page on the classic site subsequently. there is no task in red saying "awaiting payment' any longer.  It turned out I needed to cancel the order but......you guessed it, there is now no option to go into the accepted offer (before payment) to do this!

the same thing has happened today with another offer I received today so I called Ebay and spoke to Tristin (at 12.40pm in case Ebay want to pick this up) and asked what was going on.

I was told that when you now sell something, by accepting an offer, the only record of the offer being accepted would now be on the buyers page only!

this means that you cannot find any record of the accepted offer/sale, so in the event, for example of needing to chase up payment (as there was previously and option to do) is no longer available.  I cannot contact the buyer to discuss postage options in the case of a multi buy, before they pay, and I can't cancel the order if the item is somehow damaged whilst being checked for sending.  There is no way of doing anything until the buyer decides to pay, by means of contact.

the Ebay service operator tells me that the only way round this is to come home, load up my laptop to the classic site, go onto my emails and locate the sellers details from the offer that was sent to contact them,  there isn't a way to do this on the app!

I asked him to put it through as a complaint so it can be looked into, but he wasn't very convincing when he said he would, particularly when I was asked at the end of the call, if he could mark the matter as now resolved!! I said no as it wasn't resolved, its a complaint that needs looking into and feeding back to me with information.  I suspect this has just been filed in the bin at bays end.  for the record I was extremely polite and not rude in any way to this gentleman

the upshot from Ebay is that if you offer a "make an offer" option, then this is what will now happen.  if you just do a buy it now it won't!

does any of this make sense to anyone else??  they made tools for us sellers to use and have now removed them and the advice was to use the classic site !!!  For some reason they want to make it harder for us to use

looks like after 11 years of selling, I will be moving to another selling method online sadly.

I was already not happy with the payments only being sent to us 2 days after the parcel is received as of 4th Feb, but would have stayed on this platform.  this NEW change is a step too far unfortunately, and all sellers using the offer option will be affected by this change

sellers! "awaiting payment" option has now gone

Normally when I receive an offer I am notified by e-mail. I r received one last week, no  notification. However on my home page I was told there was an offer, I went to it and accepted. Again I would normally receive an e-mail confirming, and in due course one if the buyer paid. On the offer details there was a note that payment was being processed, I expected that it would be. Later the message changed to awaiting payment. I then discovered that the listing was still active, so I ended it. Since then, nothing. Person obviously never paid or it would show in payments, and the buyer would be asking where their purchase was. If all of this is a result of another Ebay change, the idiots are in charge.

You need to need to read how offers work now.  The listing remains live for a period until the person who offered for it actually pays.  They only have to do that straight away if you have immediate payment set up.

When potential buyers make an offer now it stays as "pending" for 4 days until they pay, your item also still shows as available for sale,  it is not the buyers ( who made the offer) unless they pay which it would then go into the orders section as a completed sale.  The reason eBay changed this was because of many " unpaid sales"   and so it stays listed until sold.

You have to go into " manage offers" look at the pending section and you should see the buyers details... then message the buyer who made the offer direct on their page , it will say " contact"... I have gone though similar as you have, and this is the explanation eBay CS offered me.

It is long winded and many offers have been missed due to this " new" way.

As an add note... recently I sent an offer from one of my listings - the offer shows as sent but when you go into the " manage offers" section,  nothing is showing... which means no potential buyers received my offer so they could not take advantage of it.

I have ended my listings now whilst I have a think of a " work -around" for all the new impending changes, as for a long time eBay has not been user-friendly and there are too many hiccups without these further " restrictions"  to contend with.

Hope this helps and hope I have made it understandable.

I understand that perfectly. However it doesn’t change the need to have the option to use the previous selling tools, in order for sales that are not straightforward and I’ve given examples of that above. To then be told by eBay themselves that I need to use the classic old site to see anything on a pc.  And that it’s only for sales that are offered on not straightforward buying outright. I let people off as I feel that things will find their own price. I’d rather do that and get the sales. I’ve used the app on my phone for years.

I think it’s fair to say they have appeared to try to fix something that didn’t need fixing. This is not user friendly at all. Couple that with the new “fees” and waiting longer to get paid, and I, like many others will be quitting eBay sadly. 11 years I’ve sold with no issues at all till now. It’s almost like they are trying to find a way to get rid of eBay themselves. It’s not going to end well for them. Such a shame

Agreed - Apparently there has been a lot of " chat" about eBay in post offices ... my post lady informed me that discussions included remarks such as " eBay is broken" ... due to difficulties users are finding, " using the site" and deliveries not showing... chargebacks or something or another,  customer service is unhelpful, postal labels not being correct but mostly about the new " introductions"   whereby not being able to " choose" their courier etc,  and the " funds held."  Many are leaving, others are moving to other platforms, some have already closed their account?  Not one good word was said.  So it is not just the " community" here who have concerns, there are many "in the real world" shouting about it.

No surprise at all. Apparently there is a large group that are all planning to end their selling accounts late on the 3rd feb. If you look on the other discussion boards about the 4th Feb, you can see a few on there also doing that. I’m afraid I’ll be joining them.

I could almost swallow the later payments (it does beg the question though, now that pp aren’t involved in sales, who will be getting the interest on all of these payments held for up to possibly 9- 10 days!) but the extra issues are now a step too far.

I’ve paid 1000s in fees to eBay over the years, and this is how they reward sellers. I appreciate we have had a short period of no fees but that’s about to change. I think this May finish eBay especially as there are so many other options to sell through now.

It's called  " walking the talk"... I will be joining them also... I am not accepting the new " terms"... so there will be no sales listed from Feb, and I have just removed the few listings I had to have a " re-think"... I have already stopped purchasing from beginning of December, and have stuck to it... I actually found a fave seller of mine on Amazon ( I dislike Amazon with a passion but will use just to continue to give business to the seller ) and am currently looking though past purchases to see if I can find other sellers elsewhere. 😉
