WILL EBAY CHARGE ME VAT

Hi,

I just changed my account type to a business account. I do not meet the UK VAT threshold and don't pay VAT. But I can see under my offer "Price (including VAT). Will eBay charge me VAT on every item that I sell? If I sell an item for £5 will I be charged 20% on that £5? Will I need to pay any VAT myself?

I'm a registered UK sole trader and declare income tax.

Re: WILL EBAY CHARGE ME VAT

Items sold on eBay will state VAT included if you are not over the VAT Register limit.

If you look back at the items you sold before you changed from Private to a Business Seller it will also show VAT included.

I thought that was illegal?

Please ignore this information as not correct.

I can't see any mention of VAT on your listings.  Where exactly are you seeing "Price (including VAT)"?  Is it only on certain items?

Listings should only mention VAT if the price is actually inclusive of VAT or if the item is subject to customs charges.

The only VAT that you will be charged by eBay is in regard to their fees, which applies to all sellers.
