yes its here simple delivery starts on the 15th of april

just recieved this from e bay

so as from the 15th you need to either have a printer i pad or smartphone to take a photo of the QR code take that to the post office to send your parcel with nevri or royal fail.

so if you sell 1 item say monday you do the above ..if you sell another item monday night/tuesday you repeat the process by marching to the post office on tuesday so on and so forth.

and if you have multiple parcels you must write the tracking number on each one as unlike evri royal mail QR codes dont have a id number on them.

oh and dont get any bright ideas about well i,ll only go every other day or once a week as it will take longer to get paid for your item...f*** me backwards now i,ve heard it all...😂😂 🤣

so to summerise boys.. and girls you spend every day packing and marching to and from the post office if you live out in the sticks and dont have a local post office ...PASS... the alternertive is to invest in a printer.

HOWEVER

if you are a B/S this doesnt apply to you just carry on as normal paying 35p a listing.

e bay is quiet now is this a ruse to finally out the private sellers or could this be a premonition of what is to come later in the year.. compulsory conversion to a business sellers account or find your e bay account restricted to a buyers only account or just closed down or the last of the remaining private sellers vanish to vinted, facebook or other selling sites or just give up ghost .

Hi andrew,

We’re continuing our mission to provide you with a great selling experience on eBay, which is why we made it free to sell. Now, we’re enhancing delivery so it’s faster, easier, and more secure for you to send your items.

Starting from 15 April, Simple Delivery will be the only delivery method available for private sellers when listing most items. There’ll be a few exceptions, such as low-priced, bulky items, and local pick-up, which aren’t eligible for Simple Delivery.

What is Simple Delivery?

Simple Delivery is our all-in-one delivery solution, designed to cut out all of the effort and save you money. It’s also the fastest way to get paid on eBay. Plus, buyers will benefit from savings and enjoy the peace of mind that tracking offers. Here’s how it works:

  • 1.

When listing, we’ll recommend the size and weight of your item. Just confirm and we’ll do the rest.

  • 2.

Once your item sells, you won’t need to worry about buying a postage label. Instead, you’ll receive a QR code and prepaid printable label so you can choose what’s easiest.

  • 3.

Drop off your item at the nearest carrier location, or schedule a home collection and you’re done!

You’ll still be able to choose the carriers by going to Postage Preferences in your account settings. We recommend enabling all carriers for the most competitive postage rates.

Benefits of Simple Delivery

Simple Delivery offers a faster and easier experience:

  • Save 20% off postage costs*: Get competitive rates to offer standard and express delivery with Royal Mail and Evri.

  • Full protection: Enjoy peace of mind with eBay's full coverage for items lost or damaged in transit, where we handle claims with buyers so you don’t have to.

  • Free postage option: Choose if you want your buyer to pay for the label, or offer free postage and cover the cost.

  • Prepaid and tracked labels: Labels come with automatic tracking, so buyers always know where their items are, and you get your funds faster.

  • Flexible labels: Use a QR code for quick printing at drop-off locations, or easily print your own label at home.

  • Positive feedback: From late April, you’ll automatically receive positive feedback for tracked transactions delivered on time, where no feedback has been left within 7 days and no issues are reported, so you get the recognition you deserve. Learn more about this change.

Simple Delivery will apply to new eligible listings by private sellers in the UK, and from 7 April to any existing listings that are eligible. If you selected buyer-paid postage, this will stay the same when your listings are updated. If you’re covering the costs, they’ll be deducted from your sales. Click the button below to see what’s eligible.

We’re also updating our User Agreement and eBay delivery Terms and Conditions to reflect these changes. If you have any questions or concerns, just get in touch from the bottom of this page—we’re here to help.

Thanks for being part of the eBay community.

Well you win the award today for over-reacting to a jocular remark. No need to be condescending with the Einstein comment.

I'm looking for some direction here.

I am as rattled as everybody else by ebay's decision to make these rapid changes but I decided to take a look at using SD in a test listing.

I'm selling my old LP collection, so it's mainly LPs that I'm moving on these days.

I listed one and chose SD. I opted out of using Evri, due to several unpleasant dealings with them in the past.
I was presented with a price of £3.74 for Standard Tracked Delivery with RM.

It appears that I will have the choice of a pre printed label to print off or a QR code.

I'm ok with QR codes, so no problems so far.

When I put the listing live I went and had a look. The £3.74 Standard Tracked Delivery was right there but when I clicked see details, it opened up a new window with two delivery options. The £3.74 option was still there but there was another underneath - £4.25 delivery in 3 days Express Tracked Delivery.

My long winded question is - how do I remove the 3 day £4.25 option?

I normally post the day after a sale but I can't always guarantee a 3 day delivery.

This is the listing with SD.

The point of SD is that the buyer chooses which they want. So you probably can't remove it.

The price for an LP sized packaging direct with royal mail - tracked 48 is £3.39 so that price has been inflated by ebay.

As you have deselected evri I'm not sure why it still shows two postage options, unless ebay have used the clause in their terms and conditions - even if you deselect a courier we may deem it necessary to use it or words to that effect.

That's what they are offering the buyers option of standard or express and they will choose which from what people have said that's the only option the buyer gets and a bot chooses the carrier depending on the buyer's choice. Am not sure if you can remove it. Ebay have said that whatever our posting time is can stay the same ie within 3 working days and it just means that the buyer will get express quicker than standard. They won't understand that they will think express is next day or 2 days. I can see star and feedback problems here which is why all my stuff is off sale

Express Delivery is presumably Tracked 24.

Did your listing specifically state that delivery was with Royal Mail? My test listing earlier didn't mention the delivery company despite not opting to use Evri.

That makes sense, except for the fact that I cannot guarantee that *delivery* will be 3 days. I can't even say for certain that I'll be able to despatch every LP within 2 working days, although I always try to.

It doesn't say Royal Mail but I did opt of using Evri.

I'm going to try carrying on with ebay and SD. I have a loft full of LPs, CDs, DVD's, comics and magazines that will keep me occupied for decades 😁

There is no other viable platform to sell them right now - other than dumping them en masse on to Facebook MP, or some other lesser selling platform.

The problem is that eBay can apparently override your preference and let the buyer use Evri. Can you keep us updated as to whether this is sent via Royal Mail if it sells soon?

There is Discogs but selling on eBay via the Global Shipping Programme makes selling abroad straightforward, whereas there is no similar system on Discogs.

I don't think it has overridden my decision to cut Evri out.

Evri standard tracked is less than £3.74.

I just will not use them. If there is one final straw to break me from using ebay - it's being required to make Evri as an option.

They are absolutely unreliable.

I may just set a very low price for the listing, just to see what happens.

I'll report back when/if it sells but sales have dropped through the floor since Buyer Protection hit, so don't hold your breath🙂

I can't see where the £4.25 comes from looking at the sd postage prices:

It just appeared when I went to look at the live listing. There was no mention of an Express option.

Maybe it's just a glitch?

These prices are for 'Standard' delivery.  £4.25 is the price for 'Express' delivery (1-2kg parcel Royal Mail only).  To my knowledge eBay hasn't published a price list for the Express options.

The automatic positive feedback might cause some chaos too. I’m amongst the few buyers on eBay that still leave feedback but if an item isn’t that great I just don’t leave feedback at all. But that will now look like the experience was positive.

I have no idea what they’ve done but it won’t make anything simple for me

At the moment I buy my own postage on line via the Royal Mail App.

Royal Mail 48 for a small parcel currently costs me £3.39 and offers more than enough compensation for lost items, and is fully trackable.

The cost if this is increasing shortly but to nothing like the prices that so called simple delivery are showing.
This new system has absolutely no benefit at all for me - I’ve been a seller  for years - stuff like outgrown clothes etc so definitely not a business - and I’ve taken all the other changes on the chin, but this ridiculous one is likely to be the straw that broke the camels back for me. I simply can’t be bothered with something so complicated or the ‘positive’ spin they’ve put on it Whoever wrote that has a good imagination and needs to give their head a wobble! In truth they should be getting their P45
