The cheapest international service is RM International Economy but it only offers compensation cover up to £20 and has a 15 - 80 day delivery window. RM International Standard is only slightly more expensive but has a 3 - 7 day window, however International Standard also only offers compensation up to £20. If you want compensation cover for up to £50 you will need to use RM International Tracked but it will likely cost significantly more than International Standard.
As far as the UK is concerned 2nd Class is the cheapest service but again has a £20 compensation limit. The cheapest way to have compensation cover (up to £75) would be to send the item as a Large Letter Tracked 48 as this would be cheaper than sending it as a Letter via Special Delivery (Tracked 24/48 services are not available for Letter-sized items).

Probably Royal Mail.
Other couriers may not deliver to PO Box addresses, but I haven't checked for a long time.
As a rough guide, using Australia as an example, a 100g letter would cost £8.50.
A 100g large letter would be £10.75.
With small variations in price depending on country (ie, which Zone they are in according to Royal Mail).
