very slow tracked 48 royal mail via ebay

Is it just me or is tracked 48 royal mail very slow when buying items from ebay recently?,  the sellers have posted in time, but the items are taking 6-7 days for delivery,  i ordered stuff of amazon later and it has arrived by RM tracked 48 already.

On eBay are you purchasing from private sellers, business sellers or both?

eBay is not a retailer; it is a marketplace only. Amazon is both a retailer and a marketplace.

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

I am finding that Royal Mail are being rather slow at the minute.   1st class signed for was recently taking 5 or 6 days 😞

When you the sellers have posted in time, have you checked from tracking that RM actually have the item? I am finding that RM are delivering Tracked 48 hours items within two days of having the package, consistently.

As soon as I pay for a label, the item shows on Ebay as shipped, and shows a tracking number. But it does not mean RM actually have it. I could sit on it for several days if I wanted to.

I'm finding Royal Mail, EVRI and Yodel all being slow for ebay purchases at the moment.

WHERE the seller posts an item makes a difference. If an item is collected by Royal Mail or taken to a traditional Post Office/DO items tend to go through the system quicker. When going to a locker or to a small grocers type drop and go shop RM themselves add an extra day to all services but these can add an extra 2-3 days on delivery. These types of shops only have 1 collection a day and I am under the impression that RM are not collecting these items themselves which is adding time to parcels going through the system.

We always take our items to a proper Post Office.

Last Saturday, I despatched an urgent parcel T24.  On Sunday, I got a message from the buyer telling me what a wonderful seller I was - the parcel had arrived that morning.

As much as I like praise, I had to admit that it was nothing to do with me.  She was just the lucky winner of that day's RM delivery lottery.

Royal Mail quite often aren't scanning items when they receive them - but a day or two before they schedule it for delivery.

I posted three items on the same day a Monday - two arrived by Wednesday - the third took arrived on Saturday, and the tracking showed that it entered Royal Mail's system on Friday.

I should have said Collect + and Royal Mail lockers add one day to normal service. The locker method has no updates until the delivery day which can be disconcerting.

Am sure things are taking longer now that it seems everyone is buying on line.  I've only sold 3 items since I restarted selling after having a 2 month hissyfit about Simple Delivery.  I posted each with 24 hours (2 of them were received with a day between them but only 3 - 4 days after sending).  And the 3rd one arrived within 3 - 4 days.

But I always post at a post office counter and obtain a proof of post.  Not sure about sellers using lockers, etc.  They are usually only collected once a day and if the guy comes before the parcel is placed in the locker it will only get collected the following day.

Add to the fact that Royal Mail is only delivering every 2nd day there are bound to be delays.  Not sure about other carriers though.

Just received an order from a company that used Tracked 48 - two parcels that I ordered on Wednesday evening

Both parcels showed that the vendor had dispatched the items on Thursday evening from the same location and within 1 minute of each other.

Parcel 1 is shown entering the network early Friday morning, sent to mail centre Friday evening, sent to my local delivery office today (Saturday) and delivered.

Parcel 2 is shown entering the network early hours of today (Saturday), sent to my local delivery office today (Saturday) and delivered.

Quick delivery by anyones standards, BUT why isn't parcel 2 properly tracked?
