I can't get past this error message. Have selected "postage only" Royal Mail tracked 48. Show box 5kg. And whether i accept default the £6.59 or make a change say £6.89 - i keep getting this error message (on any browser i use)

Same problem here......sooooo frustrating and it seems, despite all the complaints, that Ebay is doing nothing about it. Way to go Ebay! The only way around this for me was a described above - remove their 'recommended' delivery and add the delivery cost to the overall price (which makes it look less competitive....)
Rubbish!

It's been like this in some categories for many years. Allegedly buyers prefer you to list with "free postage" and load the price instead. Not that it should make any difference to ebay, since it's many years since they changed to charging fees on the total final value, including postage.
I prefer to split out my postage cost, because hopefully it makes my items more attractive to someone looking for local collection. When I can't do that I just do a partial refund. No big deal.
The idea that ebay might take note, that's just so chuckle-worthy. As if anyone with any decision making power ever comes and reads these forums! The moderators are here to ensure you don't discuss towns such as S****horpe, and the ebay community staff (the ones with 'ebay' in their monikers) have so little freedom that even in the weekly discussion all they can do is say they'll carry a message to "a team", with no ability to give time frames. I can understand that those with real decision making responsibility wouldn't constantly monitor, but you would think that if there was a real wish to engage, such a person would turn up for an hour on a Wednesday.

I am also having the same issue.
Trying to list a very rare and expensive musical memorabilia item and cannot get past this no matter what I try.
Is eBay just fundamentally broken now?

It's not broken, but your item is probably falling into a category where the postage cost has a cap, you cannot add above a certain amount.
I think it was explained in a previous post, this was introduced to stop sellers loading up a postage cost, and avoiding paying a full seller fee, but as fees have subsequently changed, this avoidance no longer applies but sadly the cap does.
In your case, either use the full cap and add the difference to your starting price. Or, offer ' Free Postage', and add the full coast of postage to the starting price. Either way, you are then not out of pocket.

I'll try that.
Thanks.

Those are the only workarounds when there is still a cap on postage, for example on items like, books, cds, dvds.

What category are you trying to list in and what is the postage cost you are entering?

I’m listing a Bible Journal. Ebay have suggested a £2.70 postage which is ok with me and I cannot change it anyway which is still ok but on listing, i cannot go past that domestic postage error

I have also tried to change my category a couple of times but still not working. Same error message pops up.

You can have a call-back from ebay from the link below but be warned, they are world class bs'ers:

Click “advanced options” on the postage section and then it allowed me.

Hi, I'm having the same problem. How can I resolve it and post a listing? This is a screenshot of the error message.

Hi,
When I select 'Domestic postage cost' in the error message, the screen scrolls down to here - screenshot attached. What should I do next to post a listing?
Best,
Masonde

If you are just seeing the Simple delivery option try this it should work, click on Collection then straight away back to and click on Postage Only, and the Custom option shows, you are then able to select the postage service and cost you wish to use.
Perhaps try a laptop / PC with Chrome if the above is not possible on the app or mobile browser, as little seems to be on those devices.

That worked. Thanks for your help.
