Seller cannot find the tracking number to track down my missing parcel...any ideas?

Hello Folks, I bought something about 10 or 11 days ago and it was marked as 'delivered' last Thursday....... but it wasn't delivered to *me*.....☹️ (no, it's not in my wheelie bin/porch/hedge etc, and it will have been small enough to go through the letter box)

 

I have asked the seller for the tracking number so we stand a chance of seeing where it actually went to, but he said it had been 'deleted' and all he's got is a copy of the label that *only* has his address and my address on it.

No other info at all.

 

Any ideas where he could find any more details?

 

And failing that, what are my chances of a refund when something has been marked as delivered?

As far as I know if it says 'delivered' in ebay purchases there would have to be a tracking code for ebay to know it was delivered.

 

If it doesn't say 'delivered' in your ebay purchases, you can open an 'item not received' case and get a refund.

I don't see how ebay would have marked it as Delivered if there was no tracking number showing on the ebay order page? From the ebay Purchases page have you tried View Order Details? If so what does it show under Tracking Details?

If ebay marked as delivered there should be a tracking number already attached to the order.

If it has no tracking raise a case with ebay

It's marked as delivered on my 'purchased' page.

Just found the tracking number and looked it up!

 

It just says second class parcels, delivered. 

Damn, I was hoping for rather more; like a photo of the front door that it was delivered to  .....but  I know 2nd class un-signed isn't going to do the picture thing, dammit.

 

I can't raise non-delivery, because it has been (just not to me)

What are my chances of a refund if the seller doesn't want to ?   (parcel value roughly £15.00)

Was it a private seller or a business seller you purchased the item from?

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

Private.....  (looks fairly 'genuine', lots of stuff but none of it new)

I'm not even sure eBay allows buyers to open INR cases if eBay's integrated "tracking" shows the item has been received. Also, if they're a private seller they have pretty much met all of their obligations to you - I wouldn't blame them if you politely requested a refund but they declined. You could try asking them to raise a claim with Royal Mail and take it from there. That might reassure the seller that you genuinely did not receive the item and are not just someone who is trying it on.

 

The only way you're realistically going to be refunded is if you open a claim with your payment provider and they agree you should be refunded. The seller should not be affected if you do this as they have the requisite online delivery confirmation that should protect them from being held responsible for the refund.

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

Look it up on RM's website, it will show a map of where the delivering postman scanned the item. This is usually at the door of the address it was delivered to.

Thank you for your advice re; raise a claim with RM, 4bathrooms....

I'm in communication with the seller and he seems like a decent chap- I'll see how it works out 😊

They do i have one open at the moment that was a tracked order that was delivered and customers says they now have it yet still open will wait till i can escalate then i will get them to call me. 

But yes you can still open a case if delivered

If it shows as delivered on tracking then ebay will close it in favour of the seller.

I've only ever used Royal Mail to send and haven't had many orders go missing as seller or buyer, but don't they have a GPS system tied to deliveries.

In which case as long as you know which courier they used, the send date and delivery post code, wouldn't that be enough information for them to release the GPS delivery data?
