I can't get past this error message. Have selected "postage only" Royal Mail tracked 48. Show box 5kg. And whether i accept default the £6.59 or make a change say £6.89 - i keep getting this error message (on any browser i use)

Have you checked the buyer's address? Postcode in right place?

The OP is trying to create a listing not purchase a label.

Are you creating the listing from scratch or using "Sell similar"?

Hi rickjm2, thank you for your post.
Do you have another screenshot where we can see the error in question? Once you provide the screenshot, I'd be happy to take a further look to help you get that resolved.
Thank you,
Marco

I'm having exactly the same problem. It's infuriating.
I am trying to list an item. I choose "custom postage". And then select Royal Mail Special Delivery (although it makes no difference which option I choose - I get the error message no matter what).
When I try to list the item, it brings up the error message below:

Same problem here, I have 13 listings to load today and they are all having the same issue. I cannot get past the red banner containing this message

I'm having the same issue. I've tried both on the browser on my computer and on the app on my mobile. Also with Royal Mail 48. It's been working with Yodel but they don't offer above £25 compensation so I need to use Royal Mail for this item. I can't find a way past this.

It's ridiculous. Vinted is infinitely easier to sell on than eBay. I spent ages writing my listing last night, only to encounter this insurmountable problem. Like the poster above, I need to send with Royal Mail to get decent insurance/coverage if needed.

A workaround would be to list using a generic courier shipping method ("Courier 3 days" or similar) if it will accept that, and say in the description you will be using Royal Mail. When sold you may have to buy the shipping label from Royal Mail's web site rather than via Ebay.
Not ideal but at least it gets your listings out.

I think I may have cracked the issue. eBay puts limits on shipping costs based on the item and category it sits in, they are shown here Maximum postage costs | eBay In my case the items I am listing are CD job lots, ebay insists the maximum cost to ship a single CD is £3.50. In my auction listings with over 50 CDs each they have a weight and box size that means it is £6.59 or more to ship using my prefferred courier Royal Mail. When the listing was set up I selected the category in "Music" as "CDs" and it came up with the error message above when the list item button is pressed. I checked the Royal Mail site outside of ebay and that appears to be the correct price for it.
If the listing charge for a 50 CD lot was reduced to £3.50 (the maxium cost eBay allows for a single CD) it accepted the listing. I then went through the remaining 11 CD bundle listings I was intending to post and found the smaller ones with only a £3.29 shipping charge all went in with no change to the category.
When I changed the category for the ones in heavier/larger boxes to "Music" "Other Formats" they were all accepted with no further changes.
It looks to me like eBay have built the max shipping costs per item into the algorhythm without considering the full implications of doing so. Understandable to try to stop people gaming the shipping costs to make up for low auction selling prices. No good if the item is not covered by the obvious categorizations driven by the listing generator or if mutiple items are being shipped as a bundle.

I am confused as to this screenshot. My listings etc never looks like that. I have to manually put postage cost in. Is this what it looks like on a private seller account or something?

I'm too tired of eBay to test your theory, although it sounds absolutely plausible.
I am selling a heavy (and expensive) leather jacket. It would cost £12.75 to send with Royal Mail Special Delivery but I was unable to list it with that postage option, perhaps because the maximum (according to your link) would be £11.
I ended up listing it with Royal Mail Tracked 24 for about £4.50, even though it doesn't offer the same compensation. So I'll end up posting it with Special Delivery and have to pay the difference myself due to the eBay glitch.
You'd think eBay sellers would be encountering this glitch very often indeed. As someone said above, you'd have a similar situation if sending a bundle of clothes or CDs or whatever.
Do eBay act upon our observations and feedback? Do they read this kind of thing?

Yes, as advised by @arthurcloverleaf2 , it's the postage cap, although I've not been able to go through & list it as I'm not on MP on this account, but it's looks like that's the problem.
Set it to £11 & add £1.75 to the asking price if you want the full postage cost

How annoying is this! I have now changed the listing so I pay the postage fee of £9.95 and put an extra tenner on the listing... that worked but not happy.

Yup, this is it! I threw on 28 CDs and it wouldn't let me ship for a penny over £3.50 despite the evident weight.

Royal Mail 2nd Class Signed For - which is the main option I use - seems to be unusable now no matter how much or little postage cost you set.
This has been a problem on eBay as long as I can remember and since the latest update (as shown in rickjm2's screenshot) it has broken even more. The courier technique didn't work for me either, I have to put everything on Royal Mail Tracked 48 for £3.39 and inflate the item cost to compensate.
eBay, sort this obnoxious glitch out already!!!!

Ebay gets worse and worse by the day. No wonder people are leaving this platform in their droves. Far too frustrating to use anymore due to their dictatorial stance on everything. Glad to see them go under to be honest.

Yup, I'm getting the same issue. I've been trying to list a large set/collection of DVDs (c.70 disks in total) and eBay won't let me set a realistic P&P charge (not that you'd know this from the vague "Looks like something is missing. Please fix any issues and try again. Domestic postage cost" message. Very frustrating! 15 attempts and 45 minutes of my life down the drain! Had to resort to listing the DVDs as "Collection Only" and explainign the issue to potential buyers in the Description. Rubbish!
