"Are you watching eBay"??? Your customers are not happy anymore and leaving for better pastures.

Finally come to the conclusion that eBay don't really want me around any more, thought it was only me, but reading the messages on here there's a small army of us.

My main gripe about it all, is the way you have done it by sneakily introducing these changes which nobody this side of the fence is happy about, then shutting shop on us with no explanation given why you have done them,

Why be embarrassed? just tell us straight you want more of our cash.

I know I am only a small insignificant private seller & buyer but you did not say this twenty odd years ago when i think you were looking for the little folk like me!!

Wonder what the other discards like me think?   No bad language please.

I've said it before, but just one more time.

I've gone and won't be back.

Don't like being flagged as a crook by my 'partner'.

Don't want to see my buyers  ripped of with over priced postage.

Won't ever pay for visibility, so not worth the expense of printer or smart phone to sell (literally) 5 items in a year out of 50 listed.

Just seen your reply and I'm with you. Where should we go? if you're not already gone?

The way things are eBay might offer us a lift!

Don't blame you not joining the club, forever rattling my cage but the eBay keepers just ignore me.

When Ebay first rolled out the ZERO Sellers Fees for Private Sellers. They 'Should' have at the exact same time introduced the (Buyer Protection Fee) of 4% and announced the Delay for Sellers receiving their payment/s for the item/s they sell. So then it would have softened the blow to Private Sellers from day-one, as at least for the Delay in payment, Private Sellers do save the standard (12.8% + 30p Sellers Fees)

So, given the choice of receiving Less money  and paying the standard Ebay Sellers Fees - or - More money  and paying Zero Fees - but having a delay in receiving the money, then I think Most  would choose Profit over Time-Frame of payment (given the choice). But instead, Ebay waited and then suddenly sprung this all upon us, which caused the Backlash, which we've seen ever since.

I didn't mind it personally, as waiting a bit longer for my payment wasn't too much of an issue. As long as I got the money, that was all that mattered to me lol. But potential buyers suddenly seeing an additional 4% fee added to the original prices, did seem like a Red Flag to buyers, as they feel that Ebay is screwing them for the first time ever since Ebay was first created 30 years ago. So, I think that is more likely to tempt potential buyers to look on 'Other' sites like Amazon, and so-forth.

But, as for Mandatory Simple Delivery, which should be renamed as Difficult or Complicated Delivery was the WORST decision Ebay UK has EVER made. I had to end all my listings due to this, and even though I keep reading what is said in this Community Forum. All I keep reading is more and more Negatives  about it than Positives.  All I want is for them to make it Optional, and I don't even mind if Ebay chooses to charge an additional FEE to sellers who don't choose Simple Delivery. So then Ebay doesn't lose a single penny. As Obviously, the main reason for making it Mandatory, was for Ebay to gain extra profit, which they lost in such a massive amount when scrapping all the Private seller fees.

A bit like ebay but with 2 different letters at the end.

Far more relaxed and not half as confusing.

To some extent it might depend on what you're trying to sell.

Last year here 5 sales.

Last year over there 28 sales.

Re: "Are you watching eBay"??? Your customers are not happy anymore and leaving for better

Hi theelench,

Reading this not sure if you are having a go at me or eBay.

All I was trying to say but making light about it all because I could not really care less, is that eBay with these changes have made me leave them.

I do not want to carry on having to use their much more expensive labels to post stuff and remembering that before the changes I used to use a thing called a stamp which has been around since 1840 and remember  sticking small lots in a thing called a post box.

Also saying with the new buyer protection fees that buyers might think its me charging them the extra.

Still have not a clue, if I can like I always did before combine bought lots and post them together saving the buyer the extra postage without me having to jump through loops to do so?

well considering that a lot of people appear to have had their sales plummet recently i hardly think that is a real problem!   I was fortunate in that i had a good feb and march before SD started kicking in, now i will be making the effort and putting my things elsewhere.

The choice of other marketplace depends what you are likely to buy and sell as there is no other single site for everything. For the family stuff that I tend to buy or sell there is a place that leads with clothing which has been working well for me over the last month and have recently expanded their category selection.  They also have a buyer tax and managed delivery but it's so done much better so people don't hate it. The place that theelench suggested looks good for collectables and I know people who have had success at a social network for things that need local collect in person and that's next on my list to try.

My strategy is to be multi-platform now buying or selling at the place that makes most sense for each item. I'm glad ebay gave me the push last month to stop using them by default as it's expanded my options (even if it has eroded the value of this platform). As a buyer and I have found things I was looking for that were not on ebay and as a seller I have sold some of my stagnant ebay listings quickly and/or at higher prices at the clothing place. I have also been able to buy some items at prices lower than I would ever find here.
