how do you list anything bigger than 61cm?

Ebay is now forcing me into SD with no custom delivery option

The largest postage offered under SD is 61cm

There seems to be no way to list anything over 61cm and get the correct postage, even if you declare the dimensions in the listing height, width etc

anyone figured out what to do or does ebay just want us to take large items elsewhere?

It’s just absolutely pathetic that a dummy listing I just did for a 2m long sofa (I put  the dimensions into specifics)  and it came up as recommended large ketter 1kg 🤷🏼‍♀️🙄🙄🙄🧟‍😆

And no custom option

you can’t get the staff these days or something

Clearly ebay are trying to limit the number of categories where sellers can opt out whereas they might be better off thinking how they could make  simple delivery more attractive so people would not want to opt out.

As with the Large Letter predicament limiting postage options by category is seriously flawed.

Ebay have become tedious in trying to use flawed logic to their commercial advantage knowing that it will leave people with problems. Ebay have no respect for the users and it shows. They just want to keep their money printing machine running.

This year on ebay feels like the turning point in a bad marriage where the love has gone and resentment is building up by the day but for some reason you are still living together sharing responsibilities while the recognition it's not working out is still sinking in. Things only go downhill from here. Especially if one side isn't listening, acknowledging or engaging on the concerns. I'm feeling there are irreconcilable differences in my long term relationship with ebay. I doubt they care as they expected some people to leave over this.

Hey, just wanted to say thanks for the oversized item workaround. I hope that this either stays, or even better eBay develop the system to work properly without this.

Within the space of about 3/4 months eBay has gone from something brilliant to an absolute wreck of what it used to be, from my experience. I now need to use an algorithim on a spreadsheet to create final prices that read correctly to a potential buyer and now have this God-awful "Simple Delivery" to use. I appreciate eBay now make more money than they did before, but it's so much less intuitive, fast, effective and satisfying to use.

It is very sad that such a workaround is required for listing something that should flow naturally, after all posting of items isn't something that ebay has no previous knowledge of for the past 25 years!

Yeah it's like ebay have regressed to being babies in their ability to run this website properly.

I can't fathom it myself...totally unbelievable
AND only UK sellers subjected to it

Business accounts are not favourable to small sellers...it's not a viable option to jump to those accounts unless you sell thousands of items in bulk.

Penalties added to final value fee if your business doesn't PERFORM???????

...So far, more things sent to me via simple delivery have been packaged woefuly and damaged, because seller doesn't really want to package for FREE

what kind of business can afford to abandon it's source of income?

most people are selling 2nd hand items not brand new like Amazon, so the business model is not the same

one of my very few listing which was Parcelforce size is now a medium size and would get picked up as oversize if sent, but customer services did say put it at £800 and the size options come up and it does and stays when you change the price back when revised ,but will it last ,(i did it to a large letter size item as well ?) i also noted that when you review listing the post price shown is sometime just an odd price like £2.60 ? when you only added £1.80 then jumps back, clearly simple delivery is still playing up big time .

So customer services are promoting my workaround now? You couldn't make it up!

Unbelievable.

They need to fix other stuff before ruining stuff that worked fine .

I have seen multiple different versions of same pages depending on what link I enter it through.

It seems like they don't clean up old versions of their site.

I had 19 items to print labels for today, thankfully it was still the old system.

Next week will be a mess unless they actually simplify their badly titled simple delivery thing.

Thanks for sharing a work around.

But there isn't such an option.  Packing up a glass teaset safely needs a considerably larger box & I cannot see a way to list it.

Regarding registering as a Business Seller - it is not "if you want to" as it costs money & those of us who are just private sellers don't have anything like enough sales to incorporate the charges.

Something has changed. I now seem to have the 'oversized' option in the package size, without using the workaround.

I'm surprised Ebay has not removed your comment. When I called Ebay employees the same, my comment was taken down and they private messaged me. Either they're more inclined to pay attention when only they're being insulted, or people here are reporting comments to them!!

I don't think Ebay want to get rid of private sellers. I think the new legislations is putting more responsibility on Ebay. After all, for decades, many private sellers have not paid due taxes, and it carries on.

Being a private seller is not a free choice and an option to avoiding taxes whilst hiding under the guise of 'having a clear out'.  There are private sellers who sell volumes of the same things and oddly, Ebay seem to leave them untouched. I've even reported one repeatedly and she's still trading. Plus amongst other things, has multiple listings for the same item, each with multiple quantities. It's people like these you need to be angry with.
