eBay will likely become the author of it's own destiny

I recently returned to selling on eBay after a hiatus and was shocked at how much the process has deteriorated. What was once straightforward has now become almost unusable. eBay seems to control every aspect of the sale, from pricing to listing details and duration, leaving sellers with little to no flexibility. I spent hours trying to figure out how to end a listing early, but despite searching extensively, I couldn't find the option. The "end listing" tab simply didn't exist for me.

If there is a way to do this, it shouldn't be this difficult. Selling on eBay now feels more complicated than landing on the moon! The platform has become an overly complex, frustrating mess. How does eBay consider this level of inconvenience acceptable?

3 ways to end a listings.

On the app, click on the right side of the listing where the 3  dots are.  In the drop down there is end listing.

On a computer/laptop, go to your seller hub and select listings, active listings. On the left of the photo where the edit is, there is a drop down menu and you can end the listing.

At the top of the page, there is a help and contact button. Type in end listing.

There have been a lot of changes although Ebay cannot control the listing price, they can only make a suggestion.

The more you use it, the easier it will become. A bit like anything in life.

Hi

I agree Ebay is very complicated nowadays 😞

I do hope you have signed up to Managed payments because you are no longer paid through Paypal and proceeds of sales are now sent direct to your bank.

Plus as you have not sold for quite a while...chances are Ebay will hold your funds for up to around 30 days.  In the meantime you will still be expected to send the item to your buyer

I don't disagree with you about how complicated it is, but Ebay do not fix your price (they may recommend a price; it is easy to alter it to what you want), they do not fix the listing details, you can delete their rubbish and put what you want, they do not fix the duration it is up to you.

Possibly working out how to over-ride Ebay's "help" is difficult, I never see it so I don't know.

Re: eBay will likely become the author of it's own destiny

If Ebay had their way everyone would start their listings off at 99p with free postage.

As we both know sellers should start their listings off at the minimum price they will be happy to sell it for.    Doing it as Ebay constantly suggest can and does in result in some sellers making a loss after fees etc.

My recommendation is......ignore all Ebays recommendations

If Ebay had their way everyone would start their listings off at 99p with free postage - while promoting at 25%

Re: eBay will likely become the author of it's own destiny

Just to add and to ease any stress......dont spend hours trying to work anything out on Ebay.

Just come to the boards and ask as usually someone can put you in the right direction/tell you the answer to your issue  within a few minutes.

Re: eBay will likely become the author of it's own destiny

Because as someone has already said "They like it this way".

And you ain't seen nothing yet, just wait for all the fun and frustration you'll be subjected to if / when you ever sell something and you're introduced to the Seller Hub.

If you're not Promoting your listing, which ebay will try to get you to do on almost page you go to, or you find yourself taken to without quite knowing why, your introduction could be a long-time coming.   So I won't bother to tell you about the current version, it's sure to have changed again before you get to it.

Be sure to keep one eye on your Seller Dashboard, you'll need to if you want to keep up with how many Late Delivery Defects you've been given.  Also note how your 'buyer' can be given several different Estimated Delivery Dates for their purchase, each one tighter than the last, making a 'Late' delivery defect more likely and beware of the 'buyers' who know how to open an INR case and get a refund from you before the parcel you sent so promptly has any realistic chance of arriving.

Still you've got this far and listed some items, that's better than many these days which is why you might notice there are fewer items in whatever category you used these days (although ebay tries to cover that up by having fewer, bigger categories).

Best of luck with your future sales, you'll need it.
