Hello everyone I post here with the hope that someone can offer some sort of reconciliation or even just empathy towards the injustice that is eBay customer service.
Here is my situation I have been an honest business seller on eBay for 21 years with almost all of that time receiving nothing but 100% positive feedback.
Very recently I stopped trading as a business and wanted to convert my account to a private one so that I can sell some of my personal items without being charged extortionate fees in order to downsize as my fiancé decided to leave and I have to sell my house for a smaller one.
So I requested to close my business account as eBay don't let you change from business to personal, all good here my account was left in good stead no issues.
I opened a new personal account with a different email address with the intention to change it once my business account was closed down.
Very shortly after doing this before I had a chance to buy or sell any items my account was permanently suspended and after multiple conversations with eBay customer support they still will not tell me why. I also cannot open other accounts under different email addresses because these also get banned, so now it seems I have been blacklisted from using eBay forever as they tell me and I still have absolutely no idea why.
This has upset me quite a lot and I'm considering seeking legal advice in order to open a case against them I feel absolutely violated and in my eyes I have done absolutely nothing wrong.
The only thing I can think of is that my secondary email address may have been compromised as I don't really use it or monitor it and something happened leading to the suspension of my accounts and thus all future ones. This still seems incredibly unfair that they will not even consider any personal circumstances, they have just assumed after 21 years that I have done something unscrupulous and I no longer deserve to use their platform.
Has anyone else been in this infuriating situation any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Ant

Are you saying you had a previous problem with an eBay account? Also, when you say the accounts are suspended can they still be used for buying or are they completely restricted from buying and selling? The account you're posting from is clearly registered and not showing as "No longer a registered user".
One thing that might be worth trying is a subject access request; eBay will be obliged to provide all the information they hold about you.

That would be pointless; eBay aren't obliged to let you have an account. It might be worth asking friends, relatives and anyone else who eBay might be able to link to you if they have ever had a problem with their eBay account.

"The only thing I can think of is that my secondary email address may have been compromised"
This happened to me once, albeit not with ebay. I'd tried to register with a website building program, and I instantly got a message saying I was banned because my email address was associated with scamming 😲 Like you, I was very upset and full of righteous indignation, but I couldn't contact the organisation because my email address was blocked. I subsquently used it to register with an alternative website building program without any problem. To this day, I've no idea what had caused the problem with that one organisation.
It didn't matter in my circumstances, but for you it is very important so I would definitely do as 4_bathrooms has suggested and raise a Subject Access Request. How to do it is on the Information Commissioner's web site - https://ico.org.uk/for-the-public/getting-copies-of-your-information-subject-access-request/ I've done it myself (not with ebay). Organisations have up to 30 days to reply, and in my case, they went to the wire so it may not be a quick fix but it's worth doing if you can't get reinstated any other way.
I hope you can get it sorted.

Thank you for the pointers here I will definitely submit an access request.
The account I'm posting from is my newest one I was able to buy and sell from it right up until the point where I contacted eBay to ask why I couldn't add my payout details and then the customer service representative canceled all my active listings and suspended my account by which I mean I'm no longer allowed to buy or sell or send messages I believe but obviously it still works here.
I had absolutely no issues whatsoever with my account before this I'm starting to think maybe my second email address is somehow associated with something dodgy I will be closing this down immediately.
Thank you everyone for the help it's nice to know I'm not completely alone with this.

Hi everyone I thought it was important to offer a quick update.
Thank you all for your help and support here, it has meant a lot to me and especially to Sue who messaged me and suggested that I send an email to the eBay CEO.
I'm pleased to report that my faith in the system has been restored, I would also like to give a big thank you to Daniel O’Ryan at eBay who has re activated my account and granted me access back onto this fantastic platform.
This has made me aware that I need to be more mindful of my cyber security and going forward I will be closing what I think is my compromised email address, changing all of my passwords and turning on 2 factor authentication.
I wish you all the best on your eBay journey.
Cheers

if it they were fantastic they would have helped you from day one, not bang the door in your face. you should have to contact ceo to get help from those they employ to help you in the first place
