eBay as confused as us about Simple Delivery?

eBay help says this about Simple Delivery postage rates for items under £100:

IMG_9553.jpeg

which I was pleased to see had a 2-10kg option at a price that was close to Yodel’s £5.21 that I use a lot. BUT… there is no option for this weight range when you select Simple Delivery for your item, it just goes from up to 2kg to up to 15kg, so making buyers pay nearly £2 more than necessary.

And why are prices cheaper if you select both Evri & RM? Makes no sense that a 1-2kg parcel is £3.71 (which will go with Evri) if you have both selected but £4.06 if you have just Evri. What is going on???

Thank you @emw-designs ,

There are updates being made with Simple Delivery being mandated this week.  I will have this checked into and provide an update once I have more details.

Thank you,

Kat

Re: eBay as confused as us about Simple Delivery?

Just in case anyone not sure how ridiculous Simple Delivery is. A lot of my items i have sold in the past with adequate packing inside of a box weigh over 1 Kg but less than 2 Kg. I have been charging the actual postage for a Royal Mail tracked 48 of £3.45. Even with this correct postage being charged and not even factoring in packing material costs buyers have marked me down on my postal costs as being expensive.

Imagine how they will feel now, with the buyer fee which many think is being pocketed by the seller plus being now charged for a medium size parcel  Think it will now be in excess of £6 unless you select one of the substandard delivery companies . This parcel has until Simple Delivery has always been a small parcel with a weight of up to 2 Kg at a sensible price of £3.45. Luckily i have almost sold the many items i had as a result of years of hoarding and only have less than 10 available. Since the way things are going it has to have the affect of reducing buyers on the platform. Buyers as well as sellers cannot continue to put up with all that is  being forced upon us all. It will be disastrous for eBay if buyers stop buying

I do appreciate business sellers don't suffer the same effect as the private sellers however they still have their seller fee to consider when pricing. So cannot see them undercutting most private sellers but they will also suffer if changes reduce the number of buyers using eBay.

eBay its not too late to have a rethink on the way you have changed things, otherwise things might result in tears for the shareholders.

Re: eBay as confused as us about Simple Delivery?

Up to 2kg you won’t be charged for a medium sized parcel even if it is one (I mean what you’d expect to be charged with RM)

it remains at £3.44 for both sizes (small and medium)

unless you go over 2kg

Re: eBay as confused as us about Simple Delivery?

This only came into effect yesterday before then it was more expensive, any
parcel weighing over 1kg and whose longest side was more than 2.5cm was
charged at RM medium parcel rate. It appears they have now included the old
Royal Mail small parcel 48 tracked

Yes mandatory from 15th now to be rolled out. They have been rolling out all month, still fiddling and trying to appease which will not work

Re: eBay as confused as us about Simple Delivery?

Hi @emw-designs ,

The 2-10kg option has been updated to the table.  However it will show on your account once you are under the mandated Simple Delivery. As it went mandatory this week it is a gradual roll out for accounts and if yours is not yet included it will be over the coming few days.

Thank you,

Kat

Re: eBay as confused as us about Simple Delivery?

The whole new Simple Delivery policy is an absolute joke and has not been properly thought through by eBay. I personally had the occasion to send much larger / heavier parcels which cannot be handled by Royal Mail and need to be sent via Parcel Force for which no provision has been included in eBay's "RESTRICTIVE TRADE PRACTICE" the legality of which is extremely questionable. I do not want to be dictated to as to what carrier or service I can use. What about Sellers who do not have a printer? They are stuck - completely GOOSED! If I take my items to the local Post Office it is measured and weighed, so I am certain I am being charged and paying for the correct postage cost.

And make no mistake, eBay will be getting a financial kick back for every label purchased!

I have recently Emailed eBay's CEO complaining and expressing my concerns about Buyer Protection Fees - Simple Delivery & Delayed Payments. The response / reply I received back from an underling indicated that they are hearing loud and clear the massive amount of complaints being lodged by both Sellers and Buyers, but they are not listening! They are intent to persevere with all these new policies which are all designed to put more money in their coffers and boost their profits even further. The quicker eBay reverts back to simpler and more transparent Sellers Fees the better.

These new rules are certainly not designed for the benefit of Sellers or Buyers. eBay should appreciate that it is a partnership between them and their customers which makes the eBay platform successful and not dictatorial rules which will destroy it.

Re: eBay as confused as us about Simple Delivery?

Spot on with everything you've said. I've been doing eBay for a good few
years but had a 6months break. l put 4 items on recently and have found it
difficult to work out how to do certain things, buyer's are confused who
pays the buyer protection and twice they've not paid it so l send them a
invoice now so they know.
Hopefully things will improve.
Cheers
