Hi I've just received this message contacted ebay and is being sent to everyone
That's me I'm done no more ebay for me bye bye
We are making changes to the way we process payments on eBay. Going forward, we’ll make your funds available for payout within 48 hours after we’ve confirmed delivery of the item. Until then, you’ll see a “hold” on your funds. This process helps keep our marketplace safe.

And do you have proof of the above?

To be honest i think its so complicated for new members to even set up an account nowadays that a lot may not bother. Some will defo not be happy about all the personal info they have to hand over. Plus once they realise its not fast cash they will just give up and sell on local FB groups. Something again that we will never use.

i am with you. i only came back when they offered the free listing ,now we could wait weeks for a payment with this so called payment 2 days after delivery , delivery cost will go up as people pay more to make sure delivery is early . weekend sales will also be a time contribution .people will not be able to restock as quick as they are waiting for payments ,slow payers will not help the cause,it has already started i accepted an offer 2 days ago with so called immediate payment still waiting, ebay are intent with keeping your money as long as they can ,can ebay survive i think not , beware you good people out there keep hold of your money or your goods ,the good thing is there are a lot more options ,paypal still seems to be one of the better payment structures ,people need to turn there money around quickly these days , also beware with ebay agreements with you and your banks/credit cards , a recent case allowed ebay to take large funds out of a persons credit card even though it was not registered with ebay .if you use any credit card to buy of ebay the FOS and the FSA say that allows ebay to make charges against that card or any card you use ,so beware dont trust ebay and dont agree to there sellers agreement ,ebay has used this agreement with banks and courts of late and found to be legal by the FOS, i do believe there is a challenge going on at the moment against the use of such practises ,so folks beware of anything ebay tells you and keep your money and goods safe , all the best for the new year

Yeah car boots are a pain - we gave them up even though we would sell up to £600 a pop at the big ones - but lugging tables chairs, van full of items setting up then a couple of hours of activity then deciding whether to wait until the end - queeing to get in and out makes it a long day and then you buy hot food because you can.
It is much easier selling online have you thought of a small website and use google marketing or even a facebook selling page and facebook advertising - if you have a lot of individul items you could try it in sections - personally i would just swim with the flow - it's hell of a lot easier !

Yes but that's always been the case, (yawn) Its not going to help when a item is broken in transit and shouldn't have been posted with a certain carrier is it? Who will be liable?

ebay apparently for damage or loss - they state the seller will not be penalised and will keep the money ?

Perhaps you should need an Ebay business account if you are selling all that stuff?

Haha that sounds like a joke doesn't it..... good old Ebay

Ha ha what really turns me off the market and boots are the toilet facilities lol Plus after about 4 hours i have had enough and often one cannot easily leave when you want to. Yes in those 4 hours we took several hundred pounds so it was good from that point of view. Saying that we have not done one for a few years so things may have totally changed. I do know from our own experiences that IF you have the right items then people will give you a very fair price for them. We do not sell items for 50p and the like. pretty much it would be similar to what we list on here.
So far as a FB selling page and the like are concerned we honestly do not like people regularly calling to home to collect items. At least with Ebay we can post items at our convenience.
I have however given quite a bit to some desparate people crying out for help on our local FB page. Basically helping others to restart their lives due to domestic violence etc

I would say definitely not Ebay .......we would probably be told "you didnt pack it well enough" no matter how well it actually was.

we have but have all but retired now - on ebay we were averaging about 100,000 sales per year plus Amazon plus our own sales site so it was a reasonable small online business. - Car boots / fairs we used to do on Sundays - they were the most satisfying but the most knackering as you get older - as a business you still had to offer returns display name and contacts etc and yes trading standards are about at car boots !

At ours there were Trading standards.....the police (looking for knives and weapons) plus some from the job centre (or whatever its called nowadays). When word got around..........sellers suddenly packed up and disappeared.

I remember one selling stacks of cheese which wasn't allowed - it turned out it all fell of a lorry parked at the cheese factory - he was doing a roaring trade but seeing him trying to shove it all in his car when he realised he had been rumbled was hilarious

I agree, they probably will but will they be included in the new compulsory hold for all private sellers, or will they be added to the 14 day compulsory hold. In which case private sellers could find their funds held for a lot longer.

It was just pots and pans and a dinner service and a lot of king size bedding that i gave recently.....all great condition and not things i would ever list on Ebay. (I really must avoid the sales lol)

I won't give my NINO to a USA company with a reputation for bending the law especially if it makes a $ out of it. But I'll be much happier giving it to ebid which is UK registered, UK headquartered and based, with UK citizens as owners / directors all unambiguously subject to UK laws and jurisdiction.

with facebook when we used it years ago we used to pay facebook and choose the areas they advertised in - they used to put it up in the groups that had associated interests - we delivered - never allowed collection using Paypal for payment but sent tracked and kept the customer informed - never had a problem as they paid upfront ,the sales were regular but we never built it up it was just one too many time consuming avenues to pursue .
The major selling platforms do make you chunter now and then until you become resigned to it and build the 'ebay' effect into your prices !

Yeah but just a few pots and pans make hell of a difference to someone who needs them and is without - I bet they were grateful and you made a difference - good on you !
