I already gave my opinion on this latest tax raid by obey, they really are slowly killing the goose, but they've not yet realised the full implication of their actions! All businesses need to make profits, but as we wonder pretty aimlessly into the 21st Century it's really become dog eat dog and the only people who appear to matter are shareholders.
Well I've been here for 20 years, listened to these expert sellers who've told me that they don't like 'tax evading' sellers who masquerade as private individuals and as I've said 'yes true in some cases'! But don't they realise that a lot of these small independent hobby sellers spend that money back with these businesses and it becomes an essential part of their all important turnover.
Well now its changing, you'll be saying goodbye to most of these small private sellers, guess postcards will be cut 'at a stroke', guess a lot of stamps will be going in the bin or to charity, spare parts and small collectibles, add to that all those small quirky items that we didn't know we needed until we saw them on obey!
The thing you sellers have not twigged is that both I (and many others) only ever spent money on here that we made on here - so those rotating funds will no longer be rotating here. In fact to go further I for one will be looking for items on obey and then making every effort to find the same seller elsewhere and will only buy if its on another platform. Obviously my safety (security in buying, insurance and all those other fees I may incur) will be uppermost in my mind, as I strive to purchase that bargain 99p item that I did not realise I needed.
Google is a wonderful tool - it enables you to find sellers far and wide, sometimes even they are selling the same items they have for sale on Obey - now at a lower cost. This is definitely going to be the case in February - suggest everyone does the same!

I think they do but, like ebay, they think the barrel is bottomless and the queue of new buyers and sellers never-ending.
I've previously related my buying experiences on ebay, the diary I bought (even with an offer from the seller) at nearly double the price I paid on the High Street a few months before and the kettle that I found cheaper in Tesco. But they still want to add a BPF to my cost.
I stopped selling here well before Christmas and my order of search for buying will be ebid, google shopping and google main site in future.
Not too concerned about compulsory payment holds (if I got lucky and actually sold something) although after a decade of trouble-free selling it's a bl***y cheek.
But won't put up ebay increasing my prices to my buyers or ebay/buyers choosing how I must deliver my sales.
Happy New Year to to you.

Hello and Happy New Year, I've sold so many items on here without issue it is indeed a nerve for them to 'require any assurances for my buyers safety' my feedback over those 20 years PROVES beyond doubt they have nothing to fear when buying from me.
As I pointed out on my other post - I have always been imore fearful when buying off a business seller than a private seller! Anyone who navigates this site carefully will realise that it's relatively easy to spot some fly by night seller - and I personally have never lost a penny when buying! But I have had issues more than once with business sellers!!
When Selling, I've lost out a few times and on a couple of occasions I have without doubt been taken advantage of, but again I guess it would be less than a handful of times. So I accept crooks exist everywhere.
Why on earth anyone would need 75p insurance on a £1 postcard is beyond belief. This one is not going to do Obey any favours - this time think they've made a clear error of judgement
