What are NON-PROFESSIONAL Sellers?

In the new eBay Payments Terms of Use, effective immediately for new sellers and effective from the 4th of February 2025 for existing sellers, it states that “Proceeds from the sales of private or non-professional sellers become available for disbursement after the item is deemed delivered to its shipping destination.”

Anyone know what eBay are terming non-professional sellers are? 

Or is this a new " introduction" for another change?

I saw that and thought that the wording was a bit odd, but am kinda used to seeing stuff like that on eBay pages now.

I guess that a non-professional would be a seller who isn't a business seller. After all, if you think about it the term 'private' seller doesn't make an awful lot of sense in the English language. I reckon they've just added that for clarity.

Possibly - but when are eBay going to clarify... is this a way of covering the private BUSINESS sellers? 

I certainly would not wish to be known as a Non - Professional seller - it could conjure up different meanings in ones mind... As a private seller, my take was that it meant  " exclusive use on the platform " thus distinguishing from any businesses.
