I’m a member for 14 years - I have today complained fiercely to EBay with regards to 4% + 75p charge on each item purchased as we all know this is a Back Door way of recovering the Seller Fees which were scrapped recently - Buyers already have adequate protection - as to payment 2 days after delivery - we’re at the mercy of Royal Mail to scan all items when collected (not guaranteed) 😡
Fellow members I urge you to let your disproval known - SHAME ON YOU Ebay😡😡

Well at least they haven't started differentiating between private eaters and business eaters and creating rules about which end of the chocolate bar each type of eater has to start consuming from. Or making private eaters pay an extra fixed and variable charge for the mandatory packaging.

Well said Lady4838 - a self-defeating move by ebay.

that is what i like to see, a sense of humour in the face of c.ap hitting the fan... First time i have chuckled since reading these threads today! I have always had sympathy for business sellers when they had a rant about pseudo private ones but that is dissipating fast after reading so many of these latest threads. Some of them seem to really have an axe to grind and seem to think they have the right to tell private sellers how they should be reacting to these changes. As i said in another thread, what goes around comes around.

and once again after making my remark about it, i switched back to my active list and there was a sale!!!

Oh the "powers that shouldn't be" exactly want that.. if you research you'll find it under the guise of the " social credit score" like China... and the " carbon tax" similar to the ESG.
eBay are just " managing" you now to see what you will do...
Often I feel I 'm in an experiment of " life" .. they will keep throwing s**t to see what sticks?
No IS a very powerful word!

😂😂 thank you akemp! you've just really cheered up a very stressy ebay-based day ...
( I just got 'locked out' of the boards for about 5 hours - for no apparent reason.)
You really made me laugh. But I think 'private eaters' would probably be made to start eating from the *middle* of the bar....

I also keep getting locked out today.
I have cleared all history (twice) and this time, could only log in when I clicked on 'stay signed in'.
Gremlins or goblins I suspect!

Ohhh.... nice to know I wasn't alone!
(I got through to CS and they wanted to send me a link to re-set my password but no emails arrived, making stuff twice as stressy 😨)

No Poundland stores anywhere near me but good that they are still trading. With inflation, maybe it's time to re-name them "Fiverland" (and next year "Tennerland")

Nay, cm90691, a simple change to 'Poundsland' would save on signage costs.

That's a lot of consecutive consonants, like "pushchair" and "catchphrase".
They could quickly make the change by putting the S above the word and adding the caret symbol below (new logo?!), which accords with the thrift concept that Poundland trades on 🙂

I guess looking at the cost to rebrand (Abbey to Santander was 8.5 million) and update signage it should be left as it is, otherwise every single item in poundland will cost more than a pound.

If ebay ran Toblerone then the variable fee would be on a per mountain basis and the packaging that private eaters would have to pay for would be called 'protection'. Then just when we are at peak annoyance about that they would announce mandatory "simple eating' where they force everyone to start eating the bars upside down such that the pointy bits hurt the bottom of our mouths. Yet still all the private eaters would have to justify they were only consuming the product for a genuine hunger motive and in no way would they ever consider scoffing one at work in a business eating context due to the potential tax implications. Except some people would think that's OK but others would go too far and only eat them at work in large quantities yet still claim its private eating. Still at least its not those shoddy Chinese twin peaks bars.

I very much doubt the cost of a listing, including electricity etc., is anywhere near 75p an item.
Obviously, they have superb computer systems, so I'd reckon a listing would cost in the fractions of a penny. Charging 75p + a percentage is pure greed.

You're forgetting they have to pay for all those super web developers who keep the site free of glitches and design stupidities. And the highly paid managers who are so busy they never have time to read the boards or attend the Wednesday chat. And the marketing team dreaming up slogans like 'free to sell'.
You couldn't replace any of those with AI.
Or could you?

Absolutely agree. Had my own experience of one. Bought something from me, claimed it didn't work (it did!), I suggested he return it which was declined and instead he complained to ebay. Ebay refunded him. After a lot of hassle with ebay, they eventually refunded me as well. But the buyer got my item (worth over £100) for free!
