I’m a member for 14 years - I have today complained fiercely to EBay with regards to 4% + 75p charge on each item purchased as we all know this is a Back Door way of recovering the Seller Fees which were scrapped recently - Buyers already have adequate protection - as to payment 2 days after delivery - we’re at the mercy of Royal Mail to scan all items when collected (not guaranteed) 😡
Fellow members I urge you to let your disproval known - SHAME ON YOU Ebay😡😡

It will come through after 14 days with or without feedback it seems that is a reasonable time to allow the item to get to them when even overseas it's often there in a week. The greatest con i've ever seen

Vinted at least let the buyer see their protection charges with us only we the sellers will see the breakdown as it will all be lumped in the one price that the buyer sees making us look greedy and they will be moaning about discounts etc, yes we will still be paying fees and more than before

But worse much worse

Didn't know that i will take another look at Vinted but i don't think they sell the sort of things i do

What ever they do you will still have to wait for your money for 2 weeks unless you send tracked
08-01-2025 1:09 AM
Sadly unless it's tracked you will get nothing for 2 weeks. I'm in the same position postage is already more than the item with small things like ornaments because they have to be packed well and can't be more than 2.5 cm deep so has to be small parcel

The whole point is that they are trying to force us to be a business, very devious
08-01-2025 1:12 AM
No they won't only tracking will do that. We can use what they hoard for postage if we buy it off Ebay and to refund people, that is so thoughtful of them
08-01-2025 1:14 AM
Yes and if we can't sell we won't buy either i'll be using Amazon if there's nothing in my account

Appropriately named if ebay private accounts de-camp to it!

Actually I recall that delcampe introduced a similar buyer protection fee and payment system early last year, many disgruntled sellers over there too, so may not be the best place..!

vinted system is rubbish not sure why ebay want to copy the dont get paid till they have the item

OK, sounds like 75p per ITEM. But I have a few 'variation' listings where buyers buy multiple items, or they buy a few singly listed items with one payment, which used to be just a 35p transaction charge.
I just wonder if Ebay may look to find a way to allow the 75p charge to apply to a PAYMENT, not an ITEM.
That would be very helpful.

I believe it applies to an order, so just one 75p per order, regardless of how many items.

After having my account nearly 25 years I'm finding this change so depressing that I'm going to find it hard to engage with buying or selling on ebay once it's implemented. I have just reduced some of my longer listed items by 10-15% to try and get them sold before the buyer tax starts and kills the market. I really wish they would bring back seller fees.
I'm going to change my life and be a lot more selective on how I spend my money. In the past I have bought stuff casually on whims thinking if it doesn't workout I can always resell it on ebay but my mindset needs to change and am going to embrace Minimalism where I only buy things I am certain that are going to be very good and needed. My credit card bills will be a lot shorter!

They dont care that you disapprove, they chop and change like a kid in a sweet shop with not a care in the world to their sellers they dont care if they put you out of business. The only way to achieve anything is to move to one of their rivals and put them out of business.

What you fail to realise is they dont care. You should phone their 24 hour customer hotline.... afterall you are paying for it!!!!!

These new changes should not put anyone 'out of business' as they only affect private accounts.
However we all know that there are businesses that abuse private account status and it is ebay's failure to deal with these properly that puts genuine businesses out of business.
