Ebay was always heavily weighted in favour of the Buyers, but this new mad rule thats coming in next month about having to wait two days after delivery is confirmed to get paid is simply beyond the pale.
And sometimes delivery conformation never comes, apparently in that situation we have to wait 14 days to get our money.
This is disgusting and completely nuts. A self-destructive move from Ebay.

'....I always get proof of postage which gives you a tracking number so I can see when it’s been delivered. This is going to be a complete nightmare. ....'
If you've got a tracking number which shows the parcel has been delivered, you should get your money.
The buyer *can* start a 'did not fit' return or a change of mind return. But they can't STOP their payment.
If ebay takes the payment back from you for 'item not delivered' , you must appeal with the tracking number which proves it was. And you should get your payment re-instated.

So do we as sellers have to pay postage from own money first

'So do we as sellers have to pay postage from own money first'
If you're *not* using Simple Delivery, I think you are allowed to buy a shipping label from ebay using some of the money from the sale (?) but not allowed to take the money out of ebay....
If you post using any other shipping methods, you'd have to pay for that yourself before getting the sale money.
If you *are* using Simple Delivery, you don't have anything to do with buying postage.
The buyer selects the postage (from the ones they've been offered by ebay) and pays ebay for it. Ebay then send you the postage label.
You just then have to work out if you are *able* to post your item using a method dictated by somebody else...☹️

IF you used Simple Delivery and Ebay send you the postage label - HOW does this work if you don't have a printer, don't have transport and don't have a post office/drop off point nearby?

'HOW does this work if you don't have a printer, don't have transport and don't have a post office/drop off point nearby?'
It doesn't.
(that's what I meant by 'working out if you're able to send by a method dictated by somebody else'..... I don't think I can make it work for me, so I may be among those who have to pack it in when SD becomes compulsory 😞)

I refuse to comply. I'm leaving Ebay. Sell high price items and we've to sit and wait on the reliability of the Royal Mail tracking system, I wont be selling or buying from Ebay

It doesn’t.
If Evri is added as a postage option I can no longer use ebay. I can use RM click and drop and that’s all.

Agree 100%
Unfortunately eBay's new CEO is obsessed with changes after changes.
Pierre Omidyar the person who started eBay in 1995 would not be pleased with this !
Everything that was original to the site and which worked well for both buyers and sellers has been gradually taken away or DOWNGRADED as not to be useful anymore.
If eBay's owners want to increase capital, well they are certainly going the WRONG way about it... 🙄

Well one of my orders. Has arrived and I’ve gotten positive feedback from the buyer but since Royal Mail didn’t mark it as delivered, my funds are still pending and won’t be released until the 21st of this month. I don’t mind waiting. It is more the principal of the thing. It’s been delivered and the buyer is happy , so where is my money 😂😂😂😂EBay has so gone to the dogs. EBay are eventually going to feel the wrath of sellers, I bet as the weeks of this stupidness continues.

Now that was what I was expecting. As soon as I saw they wrote "typically available" in the announcement I knew they were leaving themselves a back door.

@bittyboy101 Pierre Omidyar was still on the Board when they hired Jamie Iannone to be CEO in 2020.
Even though he is no longer on the BOD, he is still a major shareholder and in a position to exert significant influence in multiple ways, if he wanted to - including that current board member Shripriya Mahesh has worked directly for him at his various organizations for almost 2 decades and while on the eBay board, she also continues in her role as Founding Partner at Spero Ventures, a $100 million venture capital fund spun out of Omidyar Network in 2018.
If Omidyar had strong opinions about anything going on at eBay today, I fully believe he could/would make those opinions known to the right people to have something done about it. Sadly, I think the truth is he's much too busy with his political and "philanthropic" work to really care about anything going on at the company he founded.

Since 2020 onwards eBay started to decline and go down hill...
5 years on here in 2025 eBay has now reached the end of the line for many private sellers they have now let down with all these flurry of sudden changes... targeting the small private sellers in a bid to drive them away from selling on eBay and look after the big power seller guys from China !
Sadly for eBay, This series of sudden changes was not very well thought out and now has a negative side effect of driving away all the BUYERS who were indeed the PRIVATE SELLERS ! - Hence sales on eBay have now declined during the last 4/5 years...

@bittyboy101 I don't really disagree with any of that - I just don't believe Pierre Omidyar particularly cares. 😂

Whether you or he agree or not or if he actually cares for eBay anymore - Unfortunately It is REALITY.
RIP eBay. 😞

Yes, it's understandable. After the first 100 million in my bank account I'd tend to care more about other things.
Instead of moaning in a soundproof prison and hoping the meals will improve, we need to focus on getting out and finding better restaurants.

It makes more people use ebay postage which they decide so it costs you more so you have to make sure your charging enough postage I got caught with this the other day ebay says postage should be 3.95 I charged 3.95 postage cost 5.45 putting me out of pocket I never charge packaging but I do charge postage and if ebay says it'll cost one thing then it costs me more I'm out of pocket thanks ebay
