Suspiciously not getting ANY views of Items since ebay has started asking to (pay to promote)

Is anyone suspiciously not getting ANY views of  some of their items since ebay has started asking to (pay to promote)?

Im hearing people saying that ebay  are shadow banning & secretly penalising private sellers who haven't (paid to promote any of their items) .

I mostly sell off my old bmx parts from my collection , as such I have a lot of duplicate parts  many (hot items) that I have sold consistently over the years when I've put them up for sale on here.  They always get views but recently i've noticed some items not getting a single view after weeks & weeks of being up for sale  which is simply not possible .

Others have said the same & its all been since they changed the payout system & started asking private sellers to (promote their items) at a cost ?

I've just searched my items. And yh they're not even showing in listings so no wonder no views. Ebay definitely a waste of time

I have seen some of my antique heaters, lamps , retro things etc go from 100+ views / 30-100 watchers and , to me at least, high sale prices, go to 0-1 views, and zero sales. It used to be I would list a lamp for 99p and see it sell for sub £100 , now I have to put a £30 start bid on and may get 1 bid. On my old account I sold 3000+ items, since all the changes came in I’ve sold 18 . That’s eighteen individual items. Other avenues have been explored and are doing a lot better.

That is very much my same experience. how long can they last like that???
More to the point I will not waste any more time listing any of my 20,000
+items i have in storage on ebay if they can't be bothered to make it worth
my time to do so. Greed will get the better of them...how many empires..

YES, this is spot on. Even when I tried paying for
"promotion" I still didn`t get any "VIEWS"!!!!!!
Am absolutely fuming with Ebay. 😠

Buyers are becoming more savvy all the time, and many would choose to buy brand new handmade items from a properly registered business seller with a returns policy which respects their consumer rights.

But philosophy doesn't alter the algorithms controlling any search results.

Re: Suspiciously not getting ANY views of Items since ebay has started asking to (pay to promote)

@jckl1957  if only that was the case. I'm a business seller, and it's dire ... truly the slowest, deadest Chrimbo I've ever had on ebay. I took a break from it for a couple of years, and started the shop up again in October. It feels like I'm starting from scratch rather than being able to rely on 15 years of top seller performance. About 25% of my sales price goes to eBay's final fees (when you factor in the 15% + 30p per item + 0.4% regulatory fee (?! whatever that is) and then they add VAT to all of that. Then I spend £2.75 per item on a secure trackable service so that my customers have a more than good chance of receiving it, and track it with the Royal Mail. So that puts my costs up even more. I also have to factor in the £32.50 monthly shop fees, which at least gives me 250 free listings (thank goodness for small mercies).

I'd really like some impressions and views, I really truly would love some more sales. But eBay want me to promote my listings, or shop, or both, and off-site promotions to achieve that.  Transparency alert --- since I re-opened the shop on 19 October this year, I've made £229 in sales. But when you take out all the fees and postage, I get to keep £61 of that. If I had to pay eBay between 9%-15% to promote my listings as well ... well, you can see for yourself, it's not going to put food on the table, let alone pay the bills. So it's not really an option. We tried PL's back in 2023 and it made no difference, we lost more than we earned. I hear folks on here now saying the same thing, so I don't think much has changed, but eBay must be coining it in!

I remember much better days on eBay. I'm disappointed that it's become even harder to sell on here than back in 2023 when we decided to take a break. I wish I could be more positive, but those are the facts, and they are undeniable.
