Suspiciously not getting ANY views of Items since ebay has started asking to (pay to promote)

Is anyone suspiciously not getting ANY views of  some of their items since ebay has started asking to (pay to promote)?

Im hearing people saying that ebay  are shadow banning & secretly penalising private sellers who haven't (paid to promote any of their items) .

I mostly sell off my old bmx parts from my collection , as such I have a lot of duplicate parts  many (hot items) that I have sold consistently over the years when I've put them up for sale on here.  They always get views but recently i've noticed some items not getting a single view after weeks & weeks of being up for sale  which is simply not possible .

Others have said the same & its all been since they changed the payout system & started asking private sellers to (promote their items) at a cost ?

Same for me hardly any views and when I do a search I can`t find any of my active listings ,when I go to my selling page it states they are active makes no sense to me, I`ve ended all my listings . I was ready to pack it all in due to simple delivery but I`m  still able to choose custom delivery but for how long who knows.

If it is this account, you have not got any current active listings - even if I put your seller's name into Advanced Search there are no results.

Have you listed them very recently (last 48 hours) or on a different account?

I can see your recently sold items, feedback etc.

I took all my listings off last night as I was getting hardly any views ,before I took them off I had been  searching for them all week and could`nt find  any of them so I thought what`s the point. The listings had been on for a couple of weeks I will try listing again in a couple of days and see what happens.

Ok.  I started to believe something mysterious was happening!

Thank you for coming back to the post.

Re: Suspiciously not getting ANY views of Items since ebay has started asking to (pay to promote)

Same here, don't sell much, just a few mid range mens clothes. can i also confirm that if i  pay to promote say a pair of jeans selling for 20 pounds, at 25% I will pay 5 pounds

Oh, and i have been made aware by others on here, there is a littre magnifying glass icon on my sales, which when clicked goes to other sellers! very nice, what is going on?

UPDATE, just used advanced search to find my items, nothing coming up

@dgtbids

There are issues with your listings - you asked for advice previously but don't seem to have taken any of it.  Maybe have a look at your previous post and consider how your items are presented (creased stripey top), your titles and other issues.  There was some useful advice in that post and all was relevant to you.

A couple of examples: you have mis-spelt Hollister in your listing and the white men's jeans are listed in womenswear.

Re: Suspiciously not getting ANY views of Items since ebay has started asking to (pay to promote)

I was referring to what has happened in past, I have taken advice, I am not bothered about the top etc, just the two pair of jeans, which i think i have presented ok, i am disabled, have cognitive issues, and do my best.

I still think there are massive issues, i had to go incognito to use adv search  for my items to appear in a search, whats that about?

Re: Suspiciously not getting ANY views of Items since ebay has started asking to (pay to promote)

The Hollister top might be hard to find because you have spelt Hollister wrong (with a double i) and your men's jeans are listed in womenswear.

Your items are not hidden but you could take action to make them easier to find.

Re: Suspiciously not getting ANY views of Items since ebay has started asking to (pay to promote)

I think something is going on. The believers tell us that Promoted is opt-in and if an item is hard-to-find and has good keywords it should be found with keyword searches. I don't think that is the case. If someone comes here looking for a pair of roller skates, eBay will try and sell them an air-fryer. Eventually, the buyer might see your roller skates but, hey, you don't offer free postage so your skates aren't the cheapest in the world.

I'm trying to close my Instagram but once they have their claws in you, they won't let you go.

That's interesting. Hopefully, when you get the habit of trading out of your system, you can retire.

With collectables, are buyers able to buy cheaper elsewhere? Tariffs and taxes cover the whole market so should impact all sellers.  Are we earning the national minimum wage from our efforts? Although, as an economics lecturer explained to me 35 years ago, our labour only has a market value if someone is offering to  pay us for it. But the concept is a way of assessing the use of our time.

Re: Suspiciously not getting ANY views of Items since ebay has started asking to (pay to promote)

I don't know what you asked or said about promotion fees.

I never promote anything - I used to promote the odd item very occasionally but found it didn't make any difference.

It is all about what you are selling - 4 days ago I listed some Blue John jewellery which is quite rare and that has already had nearly 30 views and a bid but I can list a lovely necklace at a low price and get a couple of views.

You only have 4 items for sale. If you list something else that people might want to buy, they will possibly look at your other items at the same time but the clothes market on here is completely swamped.

Buyers might look for a seller who accepts returns in case they don't like the item when it arrives.

I sell something every week - 3 sales this weekend - but selling on Ebay is not as easy as it was a few years ago.

Re: Suspiciously not getting ANY views of Items since ebay has started asking to (pay to promote)

yes  I have I sell my bike stuff on here too and recently put some new things I never used up for much cheaper than everyone else for a quick sale and I am not getting many views ,been buying and selling on here for years and it is not normal I put it down to no one using eBay anymore or people have no spare cash  but it could be because eBay has started asking to pay to promote i noticed that after listing an item and searching for after it did not bring it up  only when i clicked it in the selling part of my eBay did it show but it may have been due to it just been listed ,I just tried signing out and my items are showing up as they should i think people are just not using ebay these days and have no money  i read that users in the uk are falling
