Just woke up to find my account and balance essentially frozen.
Had only been selling as few things as times are tough, so desperately needed the money in my ebay funds.
It's less than 200 quid, so nothing huge. Had made 3 sales, and now a 4th one has sold and I'm meant to sort postage out.
I'm now being told if I don't give them my driving licence, passport, or government ID with a photo, I won't get my balance?
I don't HAVE a photo ID. I've never needed one. The best I have is a copy of my birth certificate.
Am I now expected to go out, pay for a government ID, get my photo taken, wait till it's all finished, and then present it to ebay before I can get the money I already made the sales for?
Can I not at LEAST get the money I'm owed for MY BELONGINGS I SOLD and then just stop using ebay? Should I refund the sales and make the poor people send my belongings back? Like what am I meant to do in this situation.

Hi there,
I am really sorry that this has happend to you. I can imagine how you feel about being questioned about your identy by eBay UK. According to my knowledge Ebay UK is since 2023 under pressure by various "institutions and government bodies " to comply with various "Rules & Regulations".
Please check what other ID eBay UK would accept :
Regarding UK Photo ID: The quickest and cheapest way is to get an
L-driver photo card ID" e.g. Provisional Driving Licence .
It doesn't mean that you are required to learn to drive etc.
Please check:
https://www.gov.uk/id-for-driving-licence
There is no upper age restrictions applying for a provisional (L-driver) photo card ID
A passport is not required - You can use a UK birth, adoption or naturalisation certificate, plus other docs such as NI number/P45/P60, UK pension docs. bank statments, copies of benefit books etc.
Having a Photo-ID is very useful to have as you might come into any situation where you are asked to provide an ID.
Good Luck !

You could also apply for a Voter ID https://www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate
You'll have to pay for a photo to be taken, but there is no charge for the ID.
