Still Anti-Simple Delivery

Not sold anything since the changes in April, when I sold anything I sent by RM in a normal stamped addressed envelope with the correct postage.

Always did it this way so have still got a draw full of postage stamps I purchased for it.

Suppose one of the reasons I am Anti-Simple delivery plus the fact it was much easier doing it the old way with Royal Mail.

Still am not sure if I now list an item with free postage on it can I  just post it by normal post or must I still have to use Simple Delivery?

And if I list an item for (£10 buy it now) will SD come into force because of the extra postage cost? or is the postage separate?

Re: Still Anti-Simple Delivery

If you listed with free postage it means ebay will charge you for the simple delivery label. You would need to factor your postage costs into your item price and claim back the fee for the unused label within 14 days. But I have read a post by a forum member who claimed that you are unable to get the label refunded back to you unless you have a replacement tracking number. You could set the postage to buyer pays instead and the buyer would get refunded what they paid for the label that isn't used. You might have to wait 14 days to be paid if using stamps because you wouldn't have tracking. I think you still could get a receipt of posting if you went to the post office with it which would mean at least you could claim the loss if it wasn't received by the buyer. For letter sized items under £10 and in some categories you can escape simple delivery.

Re: Still Anti-Simple Delivery

Some categories are excluded,  but most items under the value of £10 or less than 100g in weight , are excluded from Simple Delivery,  so you could use your stamps for those items,  and your choice of postal service.

However,  saying all of the welcome information above,  there is ( still is ! 🤔 ),  an issue showing Custom Postage for these items.

If you come across this problem, there is a workaround.  See the link below,  go to ' Go To Solution' and see Rick's answer,  and adapt this to your items.

Re: Still Anti-Simple Delivery

Thanks for reply and your info.

I wonder if they have finally realised what a real dogs dinner they have made with their changes?

Think (hope) they have, reading your reply and you explaining how complicated listing anything is now.

I have decided taking more time off to read up on what is allowed and what I can and cannot do posting a letter.

Talk about its a minefield out there!!!

Re: Still Anti-Simple Delivery

Thanks for your reply.

I have come to the conclusion I did the right thing not listing anything since April.

The cheap stuff I sell its become much to complicated and a waste of time doing so with the changes.

Re: Still Anti-Simple Delivery

Simple Delivery is not so simple for me. My parcel drop-off point for Evri is not convenient. I'd much prefer to use Royal Mail click and drop for everything, since home collection has been mostly hassle free, plus they will bring a high quality shipping label to you at the time they collect. That's great if your printer conks out or you can't afford an expensive label printer.

Re: Still Anti-Simple Delivery

Yes, I think many are finding selling has become too difficult/time-consuming since Simple Delivery, and some of the other changes.

If you just want to sell a few bits & pieces, you want listing & posting to be quick & easy - and not have to worry that you might have done something wrong, or haven't understood something.

Re: Still Anti-Simple Delivery

To add to the advice already given.

For Private Sellers:

I tried using the Category 'Stamps', as there were many choices of Countries I entered 'Worldwide', I sure this can be refined.

For items under £10, 'Custom' postage came up, so normal RM postage stamps can be used.
