So...anyone else put their sales on hold...?

The whole thing is now one big confusing mess...how do you make something which was so simple so complicated?

I've now put all my sales (and purchases) on hold for 3 weeks just to see how this plays out.

By then we'll see how many sellers have had to wait the full 14 days to get "confirmation" that their item has been delivered & whether they've been paid OR whether they're having problems with payouts etc.

Simple Delivery implies it'll be delivered simply. That may be to the correct address or a completely different one. 😁

So cover up your ponds, wells, streams, lakes and rivers if you are expecting a eBay delivery?

Re: So...anyone else put their sales on hold...?

I've now only 13 more days to go before the masters will release the proceeds from my final sales here,  so I will spend that time here wisely putting down the 'machine'.    Putting the local PO's out of business with the simple delivery model.  They will be just drop off storage areas making nothing,  not sure how they will continue long term.    Good luck to all the survivors on the other side of thise ' improvements'.

Re: So...anyone else put their sales on hold...?

In truth, the Post Office was already on its last legs with the double announcements. First from the Post Office themselves saying that they will probably be closing some of them and then WHSMITH wanting to sell all their stores, many of which have Post Office inside.

This is like they're getting the nails ready, feeling helpful.

If the Post Office staff are lucky, the likes of Sainsbury's, Tesco's etc will make them some room in their stores. But if those same stores are smart, they may well hesitate considering Amazon's recent manoeuvres.

Re: So...anyone else put their sales on hold...?

Has anyone yet worked out that when your phone is too ‘old’ you won’t be able to access the latest banking Apps either. As most bank branches have now been closed that made the Post office the last port of call. This progress of eliminating the need for people/jobs is a little worrying as the UK population continues to swell.

That's what war is for. To solve over population issues. Been happening throughout history in different guises.

Re: So...anyone else put their sales on hold...?

I cannot see the point of just listing one item, i have just kept on listing as usual.  The current changes are not too problematic for me but it will be when SD comes in that i will stop.

our Sainsburys had a store inside and closed it a good number of years ago, doubt they will open one up again.

I agree with your point too, but my suggestion was to those who seem to adamantly be wanting to stop,  a full stop with selling,  so it was just an idea to say....  just give it a go, see if it works, if they've removed all their listings already,  some have, 🤔  put one or 2 back on see what happens.

Re: So...anyone else put their sales on hold...?

I closed my account but but told I cannot achieve this process for another 13 days until my final sales proceeds are released, after EBay has kept them warm and safe for me for the fortnight.

Re: So...anyone else put their sales on hold...?

In all honesty if I was trying to run a business I could have made alot of money this week here, but only by buying. & that's only based off the auctions I was watching from the week before. I haven't done any keyword combined with newest or ending soonest searches since last Sunday. There would have been more.

Selling I would have lost and probably a fair amount and I only do BIN. Most of the market took a nose dive since last Sunday and buyers will use that against you.

Only speaking about Warhammer models, the market I deal with. No comment on anything else.

Re: So...anyone else put their sales on hold...?

It seems that a lot of people have a BIG problem with SD/SIMPLE DELIVERY/EBAY MANAGED DELIVERY or whatever you want to call it...

So why don't eBay management LOOK INTO THIS ?? and either ABOLISH managed delivery or if they like it so much AT LEAST DO THE DECENT THING AND MAKE/KEEP IT OPTIONAL as not everyone wants it.

Yep,  not everyone wants it true,  and it is currently still optional to use.

However,  those in eBay Towers , CaliforNIA  have decided it is to be made compulsory for Private sellers, and for postage to be bought now only through eBay.

No fixed date announced  for this,  before end of March was being banded about, but seeing how BP was to be introduced for Private Sellers, and for all categories on the 4th of Feb,  seeing how that worked,  we'll just have to wait and see if and when compulsory Simple Delivery will hit Private sellers.

Re: So...anyone else put their sales on hold...?

Too late for wait and see, the trust has been broken by the machine refusing to pay out for items sold for probably a minimum of a week and likely a fortnight. That was the final straw for me, the bundle of hay they call Simple Delivery is for the remainers.

But at one point or another many will say to themselves "enough is enough".

As said above "the current changes are not too problematic", for me Compulsory 14 day payment hold is not really a problem (although IMO suggesting that buyers need extra protection just because I'm a private seller is a cheek bordering on defamation) but allowing ebay and buyers to dictate what delivery company and service I have to use for glass sales is a big problem for me.

The real problem is that these changes are just the current ones in a long series since paypal was discontinued and Managed Payments rolled out.  Since then we've seen IS / the new way of searching, removal of the old categories, the big push towards Promoted Listings and other smaller changes introduced.

Every one of which has resulted in fewer sales for me, four years ago 20+ p.a, then 13, 13 again and last year 4.  At some point you have to wonder why you're even bothering for such poor results, especially as when the dust settles from all this there is still my red-line approaching  --  giving my NINO to ebay.  I ask myself is worth trying to work with the latest changes only to find I'll be stopped from selling anyway at some point in the not too distant future?  To me the answer is No.
