I sold an item and the buyer selected a collection point via simplified delivery.
The status of the item has shown as ready for collection for nearly a week and I am wondering what will happen if the buyer does not collect. The buyer is not communicating.
I already have the funds and would rather not receive the item back.

As your tracking shows that the item was delivered to the address given by eBay, you will not be required to refund the buyer.
Your return address will be shown on the label so you may receive the item back, eventually. It's up to you what to do then. Most sellers would refund the cost of the item, but not the postage amount, and then attempt to re-sell the item.
Although the buyer is probably at fault, it is possible he's in hospital, or has some other genuine reason for not being in contact. I have had one in the past who had died (confirmed by a newspaper report).

The buyer has 7 days from when they were notified that their item is at the collection point, to collect their item. After that they lose all eBay protection concerned with any refund claim.
If they don't collect in time, the store can deal with the item as they wish, send it back to you, give it to charity or even destroy it.
If you do receive the item back, personally I think as you have both the item then, and the money one has to go back to the buyer. Cancelling the order will refund everything the buyer has paid, and you can relist the item for sale.
Personal circumstance or mere forgetfulness, you may never know the reason for the item not being collected.
