Re: Simple delivery

well i do not think it is okay for small parcels.  Most of my stuff was small parcel which i was happy to take into the post office and pay for myself.  I never send tracked unless a larger value item which are rare for me and the certificate of posting tracking number has worked well.  Never had a parcel go missing or arrive damaged yet through RM (that is as both a seller and buyer)

Re: Simple delivery

they changed me to SD last week but i have still managed to get my own postage on.  Not sure how long that will last this time, just put a few items back on.  I like experimenting now, even for the entertainment value....   Got past the frustration, anger, annoyance and just accepting what is and am now on another site although i am having a problem with trying to list with photographs but my intelligence younger relative is going to sort it out for me..    I hate technology!

Re: Simple delivery

Looks like ebay have made simple delivery mandatory now. Not good. I have clicked on the get postage label for my current item, my preferred courier Yodel cost now comes up at £6.19 whatever the parcel weight and size. Royal mail cost is 3.44, evri 2.94; i could have posted this large letter for 1.77  a few months ago but now need to guarantee delivery confirmation so tracking required. What is going on at ebay?

Re: Simple delivery

I wonder what ebays criteria is that makes evri and royal mail their preferred couriers. I like others but simple delivery has made them prohibitively expensive

Re: Simple delivery

To the OP.

I'm sorry but they just don't give a sh-1-t about you or the rest of us.

Just had a message today where they're trying to make out that they're listening to us by offering some new "simple delivery" pricing for smaller packages (or something)...?

It's got to a point where i'm getting beyond understanding what the hell is going on here anymore - it was so simple up until some complete clown at ebay decided to stick their massive oar in & basically botch everything up for just about everybody on here.

Ebay - "IF" you were really listening you'd back down & put everything back the way it was.

I'd love to see your sales figures since Feb 4th.

Re: Simple delivery

Spot on with the "it's turning into an unattractive place to sell"...

It's also turned into a very unattractive place to buy.

How can you get things SO badly wrong ebay..?

RM because they have the universal coverage

Evri because ebay could make the most profit on reselling them.

Therefore ebay desperately wants the highest proportion of items to go to Evri - whenever both buyer or seller is in coverage. Probably makes ebay between 50p and £1 extra profit per order.

I'm pretty sure RM don't want ebay only putting all the hard geographic jobs to them as their services are priced assuming a mix of easy and hard to get to areas. As such I doubt ebay make any profit when people pick RM now they have had to reduce the rates to 'price march'.

Big supermarkets usually 'price match' the cheaper places like Lidl or Aldi but on ebay their SD rates were so punitive and obscene they are having to 'price match' the highest price carrier. It's like going into Tesco and them price matching Waitrose or M&S because otherwise Tesco were going to charge more - never happens in real life only in ebay's psychotic universe of double speak.

Re: Simple delivery

I am just about giving up after nearly 20 years. Ebay worked for me because I was in control of shipping and as an ex distribution professional that suited me as I offered decent customer service. Now they are charging the buyer the fee and meddling with my listings, changing my dispatch time and forcing their delivery on me. My sales have plummeted and I honestly think they have signed their own death warrant.  Am trying to use Vinted again but Vinted won't accept my bank acct for payment despite me using it to buy something on there.

If Ebay doesn't wake up it will be too late. Which is a shame.

Re: Simple delivery

Completely agree with you, I too live rurally and have always had my postman collect my parcels from my home, I now can't do that, I'll have to look at other ways to sell online.

Re: Simple delivery

Yes I used to do the same and  if one does go astray very rare indeed , RM do a refund.  Whats the Buyer Premium   but a fee but on the Buyer rather than the Seller.

Re: Simple delivery

With you on this, as are many others. I had no issues before posting items via my local post office, which is a 30 minute walk away, I don't drive and do work, so I have only a. Oupld of days a week where I could post items, I had a nice routine if I sold something I had a few days to post it and plan the journey on a day off.

Since simple delivery, I have sold 1 item and I managed to use the simple delivery system of printing a label, however I can't keep spending money on paper and ink, my laptop is slow and I have now removed all my listings because it will take too much time and effort to print and post an item in their forced format and time frame. Not happy.

Re: Simple delivery

100%, I've been selling on eBay almost since it started.  Over the last 10 years or so (maybe more) they have shown that they couldn't care less about sellers (especially private sellers), the whole ethos of the site has gradually been eroded.  Things like "buyer protection fee" (what a joke) and "simple delivery" which means you have no control over what buyers pay (applied to private sellers only), I used to take some of the "hit" on postage, i.e. if I know something would be £5 - £7 to post and it was a reasonable sale price I'd just list at £5. Just more ways for eBay to make money.

eBay company values:

  • The buyer is always right
  • Make the most money you possibly can

I still list things every now and then, however, if you think eBay has any agenda other than maximising profits, I would suggest you're wrong.  Choices... suck it up, or don't
