Sellers who now want to ONLY choose Royal Mail and not use Evri (parcel goes missing) are now being penalised.

Quite a few of the prices are slightly less with both companies selected. This latest announcement only raises the cost of a 0-1kg Royal Mail Medium parcel to what we'd be paying if Simple Delivery didn't exist.
I can't see it being a big deal as there aren't many things that will be Medium Parcel sized but less than 1kg in weight; an empty box that size is going to take a fair chunk of the weight. It'll only really effect small, light, fragile items which need a lot of light-weight packaging.
A lot of Buyers claim they'd pay extra to not have their purchases delivered by Evri so now they can put their money where their mouth is.

I don't see the problem having both as a choice as ebay will cover what is sold for damage or loss.
If it your choice to just send by one ebay shouldn't put a premium on that price it does taste a bit sour.
a punishment for not clicking both.

I'm calling discrimination on sellers who may live in a location where there's no option but to use RM because Evri don't have a service in that area. Isle of Wight is best example I can think of. Evri ship there but you can't send out from there.

If an IoW-based seller has both carriers selected they will still pay the lower price even though eBay could only provide them with a Royal Mail label. That said, an IoW-based seller would need to know not to consciously opt-out of Evri based on their location.

Thanks, that's interesting, and something that we'll need to ensure that sellers in zones that Evri don't cover are aware of.

Surprise surprise.........
Could ebay next say your search result visibility might be better if you go along with RM and Evri option ??

They could but no evidence they do.

well as the EVRI driver will not deliver to anywhere off the main road i would have to pay the extra because i certainly would not buy from anyone using them! You are wrong about the prices though because SD uses tracking and i never did so i would not have paid as much (or technically my buyer would not have).

what would be the point of me buying from someone using EVRI when the local courier will not deliver to any address that he deems 'inconvenient'! All very well getting my money back but if i order something it is usually because i want or need it! Why should i be penalised for being sensible?

Do you not have the choice when buying? Especially with SD ?

Nope, you get the choice of 'Standard' or 'Express'.
Which delivery company is providing those services is hidden...🙁

A 0-2kg (Royal Mail don't have a 0-1kg band) Medium parcel costs £4.95 on-line to send by standard (untracked) Second Class so I'd rather pay/charge the extra 20p for peace of mind. It could be sent for £3.29 with Evri but, as you say, arrival is a different matter.

Or a punishment for not clicking the one ebay would prefer you to click ?

This does seem a little like ebay wants private sellers to use all courier platforms on the simple delivery and those of you who are defending evri please do not they are awful had my own issues with them in buying and selling for so many years . so much so if a seller sends to me using evri i refuse the parcel and ask to return to sender no more money to evri from me. glad i sell on a business account now so can sell and choose my own service

The drop off points for Evri are mostly inconvenient and Evri are a nightmare with their delivery service. I choose Royal Mail because all my packages get delivered and 99% are exactly on time. Also I know when the Royal Mail driver comes to collect packages whereas Evri, Yodel, DPD all are any old time.

Very true, which is why I only use Royal Mail — unless it's something that is too big for them but light enough for Evri. I'm now unlikely to even use them for that as there's no way to arrange an Evri collection under Simple Delivery and if it's too big for RM it's most likely too big for me to carry to a drop-off point.
