Re: Simple delivery

Unfortunately ebay doesn't care about any of your issues as their unwavering focus is on the impossible task of satisfying their greed as shown by their ongoing greed-fuelled decisions:

  1. Buyer Protection Fee – a total lie, they are just pocketing the money.
  2. Holding private sellers money - earning interest/investing.
  3. Simple Delivery - once mandatory ebay will make money on every postage label for every item sold.
  4. Hiding listings - ebay are hiding sellers listings so they have to pay to make them visible again.
  5. Disabling the invoice facility - buyers are forced to pay BPF on each item so no more combining orders.
  6. With Simple Delivery they make the buyer pay higher postage if a seller only offers one carrier.

Re: Simple delivery

You are not talking to eBay here but to other members like yourself.

Many are facing  some of the same issues,  no printer,  no iPhone, or the inability to post within a few days.

Those are the new rules under Simple Delivery, and I count myself amongst the many who have found selling on eBay no longer viable.

A great shame. 😪

Yeah forcing SD on people who will unnecessarily or impossibly struggle with the practical implications is massively inconsiderate of ebay and their reputation is getting trashed.

It's turning into an unattractive place to sell and expensive place to buy.

Re: Simple delivery

I'd say ebay's been an unattractive place to sell on for private sellers for a while now.  Since the last lot of restrictions were (sort of) rolled out it's been heading towards ABOMINABLE.

To be fair to ebay it's a legal requirement and other places have to report online sales based on the same  thresholds.

Re: Simple delivery

Royal Mail will bring the label (I believe may not with Simple D at present) and collect the item for 30p per parcel when doing their collection. (This charge appeared on the 1 May.)

Re: Simple delivery

True ,but doesn’t make big brother state necessarily right . The big (& wealthy) corporations can afford lawyers & tax avoidance experts .That we can’t , hence easy pickings (weaker targets ) for the ‘authorities’ billions off shore 🇱🇺 etc .

Even for the little guys it's not fair that some would pay their taxes correctly and others would get away without paying taxes. Someone has to pay if we want good schools and hospitals but because not enough people and companies do pay and the government tend to waste it then we end up with the mess this country is in where things that most people would agree are worthy causes don't get the money spent on them properly.

Re: Simple delivery

I wondered about no views for a couple years now since it started happening

finally struck my blonde mind it’s all to do with Ai and how it’s been used

because it certainly wasn’t humans deciding not to look at stuff IMHO

it was just ebay algorithms and other such rubbish directing (badly)

It's been a few weeks since I listed an item and I was going to tonight but got as far as the postage. I've had it weighed at the post office and the cost is £5.15 . The SD cost is £3.44. I don't have a printer and I'm not prepared to eat the cost of postage. If they intend to continue this I will have to stop selling here, which I have been doing since 2008.

Re: Simple delivery

Hopefully it will come back to bite them hard and demonstrate to them that they can't show such contempt for the users of it's selling platform without it having inevitable negative consequences.

Re: Simple delivery

I don't want them to bring a label or collect the parcel. I generally regard Royal Mail as utterly uncooperative and useless even with their basic function. I cannot understand who at Ebay thought this was a good scheme.

Re: Simple delivery

It’s the enforcement

with vinted it wasn’t enforced

it was a choice on joining/using

with eBay apart from the miniscule exemptions you have no choice …that’s never going to go down well…

in a way it’s pretty stupid ..ie for small parcels it’s ok I don’t need a choice because what you offer with sd is exactly the same ..not a problem

but when you say I can’t offer special delivery with rm for an item under 750 quid on your bike mate ….IF SD is enforced ..I’m having my doubts

Re: Simple delivery

If ebay hi-jack my listings (again) and violate them by forcing simple delivery onto them it will probably be the end for me too.

I rolled with the first two greedbay decisions - adding a b/s fee and holding back selling proceeds to earn money by sitting on it as long as they can, but with simple delivery I will lose all control of postage and be in the imbecilic hands of ebay's 'ai'.
