Simple delivery is awful

I list a few things on ebay occasionally, but this new simple delivery is just rubbish for sellers. It assumes that ebay actually know the size and weight of items And that everyone can easily get to Evri or other courier services easily. Why did they have to stop the seller from deciding how to post items? Put me right off bothering to use Ebay.

If you put 87p as the postage - thats custom postage.

ebay might recommend a postage method of Yodel at £2.70 - but you aren't duty bound to use the label ebay suggest on custom postage. They are only suggesting it because they would make some money.

@jonatjonatjonat hi,  Most of what you said is incorrect here. 87P IS NOT custom delivery. Categories dictate custom delivery.

Ebay are not making a margin on Yodel postage. £2.70is the cost of Yodel postage.

Sometimes the postage screen does show only one option. If this happens i always close it and open again and it has always reverted to the full page for me.

I tried all that but it remained the same, I even tried the web page rather than the app. It let me chose Royal Mail 2nd class but changed it to yodel, even though yodel isn’t an option!

The cheapest option on Simple Delivery is NOT 87p. (all S.D. has to be tracked postage, or S.D. will not work...)

Therefore 87p *must* be custom delivery. There ain't no other option.....

  Have recently opened an ebay selling account (private) after having one many years ago. I dont have a mobile phone or printer, so can I get RM to print and deliver a postage label to my house? I have tried twice, but no call by RM (postie I presume) on the day listed on ebay. Am I doing something wrong on the booking?

Are you clicking the blue 'Get label' button once you have selected the collection date/time? 

Many people are missing out that step, as it isn't particularly intuitive, but it needs to be done to complete the booking process.  You should then receive confirmation emails from both eBay and Royal Mail.

You can put in whatever you like, but it will be overridden. Putting in 87P does not make it custom delivery.

There’s two options. Simple Delivery or Custom Delivery.

Do any of you wonderful people know how to cancel a collection of a simple delivery item? I booked collection for Tuesday but I am now able to drop it to the post office tomorrow so the buyer would get it a day quicker. I used the link in my email to go to cancel it. My own email wasn't the email used for the booking because it doesn't recognise it. This was easy with click and drop before.

screen that allowed a collection cancellation or alteration, but I have
no idea if that is now possible

Did you receive an email from eBay/Royal Mail confirming the collection?

OK sorry - I have been able to adjust and cancel collections, possibly
via Click & Go which is what I book them on

I did find a route to a Royal Mail screen to cancel a collection and I
got my 30p back as well! It wasn't via EBAY, nor would I expect EBAY to
offer something that useful

Yes that's how I used to send my items before. I am just going to take the package to the post office with the downloaded label and hope the collection automatically cancels once they scan it as received.

I couldn't send it at the post office as I wasn't given a QR code as I had booked collection. I managed to cancel the collection beforehand so they aren't coming with the label. I don't have a printer so I asked customer service. They said it's not possible for me to cancel a collection and wanted to see the email confirmation that it was cancelled. They won't supply a QR code. They said to go to a Xerox store to print it 🤔 or pay 30p to book collection again. What is Xerox as I've never heard of it?  Far from simple! They said the only other thing is to cancel the sale and get the buyer to hopefully buy it again. All this rigmarole to make money on labels for ebay.
