I list a few things on ebay occasionally, but this new simple delivery is just rubbish for sellers. It assumes that ebay actually know the size and weight of items And that everyone can easily get to Evri or other courier services easily. Why did they have to stop the seller from deciding how to post items? Put me right off bothering to use Ebay.

Same as me.
I just phoned Ebay to complain and they're not interested at all.

I don't want to use it at all. Wondering if I could use yodel manually and not use on ebay site label.
It's different if it's a small item like a game or dvd that can be easily carried. I can take it to post office in town while there, but a 9kg box of books no way.
Also they censored the word m o r o n and makes it look like a worse word 😂
Stupid decision, makes everything worse for everyone.
I used to use tracked 48 for royal mail for games because cover if it was lost was up to £150 (I think). I don't know what it would give me now, just signed for?

I think there is an option to turn off evri and be only left with Royal mail.
It not helpful to me, my closest right round corner is yodel and I had a nearly 10kg of books which I'm not carrying a 30 min walk. I'll have to try facebook marketplace to sell now.

Royal Mail can collect your parcel and bring a label too if you need one

After being a seller and ebay for 23 years the Simple Delivery is the final nail in the coffin not fit for purpose and over complicated so closed my account today what rubbish

SD on RoyalMail uses the base products tracked 48 or 24.
I don't know the names for the base Evri products but something similar.
Coverage for both is up to £750, except for items on ebay's list of Restricted or prohibited items.

Is that working now as before if you hadn't paid for the label yourself you wouldn't get the option to get Royal Mail to bring a label. I had contacted Royal Mail a couple of months ago and they said it wasn't possible unless you had paid for the label yourself and as it was ebay who paid for it you would have to print the label yourself.

Yes they introduced it very recently
Someone posted though that before you click to get label you need to click arrange home collection
im sure it will be straightforward on the postage page when you get to do it

Yes, the collection needs to booked on eBay before generating the label in order for Royal Mail to be able to bring the label:
If you have a Royal Mail label, you can book a collection on eBay. Royal Mail can then collect your item and also bring the label for you if you don't have a printer. You'll need to book the collection before you create your prepaid label. Here's how:
Once you've booked your collection, you won't be able to change the date. If you miss your collection, you can book it again for another date on the Royal Mail website.

Thank you, I'll give it a try. Fingers crossed it works

.... Maybe they could in a Budlight Brewery, with SD they are heading the same way with lots of folk seemingly giving up and moving to another Market place.

What?
Inconvenient getting your parcels picked up as opposed to lugging them down the post office. Don’t get it

Agreed I sell a few things of my own but also to help out our local charity shop if they are unsure of what things are /value etc... Not any more though unless this simple delivery system is changed.. We always use royal mail 48 hour tracked.... Royal mail is still an option but when we have tried to select this option it has defaulted to Evri which we have never used... Will watch with interest but at the moment have withdrawn the few items we had listed

You can turn off Evri here https://www.ebay.co.uk/ship/prf/simpledelivery
There may be exceptions where preferred couriers are unavailable due to your location or package size.
In most postage bands, turning off either carrier increases the postage price.

Agreed - it should be an optional choice not mandatory...Especially for legacy account users.
Some sellers really need all the help they can get in all fairness...Many times I've been buying from a seller, either here, or on other platforms and have had to seriously help them step by step and providing screen-grabs etc as they were pretty clueless.
I discovered only yesterday - late to the party as always - Parcelforce won't collect big items sold via eBay! I negotiated around it by purchasing direct through them (it was cheaper) then uploading tracking number to eBay
I've always been a fair seller, recycling postage bags etc, using a large envelope rate over parcel services for inexpensive, light items and frequently offer free postage when selling. I strongly dislike unnecessary (hidden profits) charges for delivery. Also the negative environmental impact as a result of sending a small item in a huge box! I'm not a big business out to exploit buyers, I just want to recoup some of the financial outlay and recycle our family stuff so we can afford new experiences and items.
The whole dynamic of selling, especially used items, has changed dramatically across all platforms. Dodgy sellers or scammers and buyers who expect much more, for far less and not forgetting those unable to comprehend that a 'used' item is exactly that. The friendly, personalised touch that I advocate is rarer and sadly becoming outdated...
