Is Simple Delivery mandatory now ? used to be able to select custom postage option but it’s not available now. Just tried listing and Simple Delivery is the only option for postage

You missed the part where Ebay say their decision is final and cannot be challenged in any Court, so you have to just trust them, yeah sure and I have born yesterday.

Again, where does it say that?

Re: Simple Delivery

It was two items, bought on buy it now. If it hadn't been simple delivery it would have been easy to buy one label and refund the seller the other postage they paid.

When I had 2 items bought via auction by one person, the Simple delivery was combined to small parcel, but if done manually I would have combined postage to large letter tracked; the buyer didn't mind, think they thought overall price was ok.
We will wait to see how the using only one label goes - and when the money is paid.

But as we would really like Royal Mail collection at the moment it saves us 30p.

One had a Royal Doulton vase arrived in bits (Royal Mail), sold for £110 and had £35 deducted from her account as tracked 48 only covers up to £75.00. Argued that with CS as it was simple delivery but they were adamant that Royal Mail T & C's overide those of eBay.

That is not correct.  The 'eBay delivery Terms and Conditions' states that the carrier T&C's are overridden in the event of any conflict or inconsistency with the eBay terms:

2. Applicability of third party carrier terms.

The relevant carrier terms are set out in the Annex to these Terms (“Carrier Terms”). By using the Services, you acknowledge and agree that the relevant Carrier Terms shall apply to you as well as any items that buyers purchase from you for delivery through the Services. Subject to the above on “Applicability of the eBay User Agreement”, in the event of any conflict or inconsistency between these Terms and the Carrier Terms, these Terms will control.

Re: Simple Delivery

Yes, but still you can't get Ebay in any World Court, so if they states it is something you did wrong with posting and you can prove otherwise in Court, you are not allowed to do so, therefore you are still in danger. If i purchase by myself, i am the person witht he contract with the postal service and the consumer, with my own consumer's rights available, when Ebay or who for them is there, the contract is between them and you can only watch and accept anything they agree, no thank you. If they want to control the postage of private people, they have to take full responsability in a Court or deem any private seller not responsable at all, of anything, but Ebay only. And that will never happen, so better to just avoid that, because they have their shoulder covered but not yours in this ways.

Re: Simple Delivery

Since simple delivery became mandatory I have lost a lot of sales. My items are 40g each and the system cant work out that if someone adds 30 to a basket that its still a small parcel. Customers are being charged £15 - £20 for a DHL package. I have made multiple complaints to eBay and they aren't listening. Thinking of closing my shop as people aren’t checking out. I always used Royal Mail 24 small parcel before. Now this isn’t an option..

Re: Simple Delivery

You are aware you should be on a Business Seller account right?

Re: Simple Delivery

I don't understand why you can't sent Royal Mail 24 still? Royal Mail goes up to medium parcel 20kg. You can opt out of Evri.
I think sales not happening might not be entirely down to SD. I think now there are no fees for private sellers, eBay would like private sellers to promote their listings.
You might want to look at whether you should actually be a business seller - then you can customise postage

Re: Simple Delivery

As already stated, as you are selling multiples of 'Brand new' items you really should be registered as a Business Seller then you wouldn't need to worry about Simple Delivery.  Note, having a shop subscription on eBay is not the same as registering as a Business Seller.

Also, you shouldn't be advertising items for hire on eBay.

Re: Simple Delivery

You should have read Evri policies before since they states they don't cover any glass, even screens, keep on checking that list often, because everytime they loose a Court Trial they update that with the item they have to refund then. Even Ebay policies are equal important, that's where my concerns come and Ebay rules overwrite those ones since they can't be challenge shouold you have right. They are just copying Vinted because they think it makes lots of money, they didn't check the rules when they decided to enforce Simple Delivery in an already balanced system, it takes 5 seconds to allow sellers choice like before and everyone happy, the same Vinted problems will be here soon and some already are, but their system was build around Simple Delivery from the beginning therefore, it works better. Ebay had an higher level of quality compared to Vinted, now it is becoming the same rubbish, so no point have 2. Maybe Vinted will allow sellers to take care of the delivery like Ebay did and that will be the end of Ebay, just because you enforce something and leave people choice. I also used to bring buyers from other platforms here before, that is no more the case until Simple Delivery is enforced, it used to be my main platform this one, that is no more the case.

Re: Simple Delivery

I just find this topic here Where you REALLY stand on shipping using Simple De... - UK eBay Community which explain better some of my fears and confirm them, in legal terms and the shading hiding attitude of the Ebay and people on its behalf does not help, even when called on replies/clarifications/updates to Terms and such, since it is proof they are doing thing in a hidden way, I never liked surprises so I just keep on refusing sales until they don't give back the choice, since they deem themselves not more responsable like i would anyway be with or without them making mess in my name. Also by law any insurance you have to pay for post an item is illegal, since all postal service are entitled to Duty of Care, I had to go legal to a Court to find out.

The topic was archived (i.e., not deleted, but only Ebay can view it). Have you downloaded a copy by any chance?

Re: Simple Delivery

I want to know how to combine postage when EBay steps in with its Simple postage.
I lost a sale of 6 items because the buyer got charges a large amount for postage and EBay split the order in two so I could not combine.
This is happening regularly now and buyers are VERY unhappy.

I have a combined postage policy but Ebay steps in and not even for the whole order.

Nothing was paid for and nothing was invoiced, then when I went to invoice minutes after the customer said he was finisher buying EBay stepped in and made a total mess of it.
EBay need to fix this if we are to continue.

Hi tressygirl

I do the same thing and use my own postage, BUT when you sell a few things to the one buyer EBay steps in and it all falls down.

See my earlier post

I phoned EBay and spoke to a helpful person who admitted that there are problems with Simple Delivery but as I was classed as a small customer, they were not dealing with it just now. His solution was to ask the buyer to cancel all the orders and put them all through again ???  half were auctions.

he said there is no fix coming soon. I have lost 3 multi item sale now.

The other thing to bare in mind is it kicks in at £10.00 or above.

Re: Simple Delivery

The reason you are getting SD is your items are over £10.00, with Ebay you just have to learn these thing the hard way.

Re: Simple Delivery

When I have sold with auction the SD was combined. One of the times both items would have gone in a large letter, but at least small parcel was cheaper than 2 large letters at £2.72 each.
It's when it is Buy It Now that it falls down dreadfully. You can not use one label and the buyer will get it back eventually, but you will get item not dispatched warnings and a not so scrupulous (or maybe not fully brain engaged) buyer saying where is my other item...

It is now £20.00 not £10.00, but only applies to certain sub-categories.

Re: Simple Delivery

I didn't know I had to, and the fact they have it hidden made me definitely choose to leave this place and keep on cancel my orders if when simple deliveries, so confirming not trusted system. For next time I know.

Re: Simple Delivery

Contact them privately and let them not pay for delivery, or refund them, they get the refund immediately if they paid, you have to wait if you pay postage 2 weeks, and tell them you have to do like this for combined postage, so they can pay you the right amount, call the customer service and explain this, they will tell you to let the customer pay you on paypal or something for the right amount.
