Is Simple Delivery mandatory now ? used to be able to select custom postage option but it’s not available now. Just tried listing and Simple Delivery is the only option for postage

I am only a couple of years behind you! If I can do it you can also! I am no computer whizz kid. Don't give up. ( my mother is in her 90's and is still fully up to date with computers )
I did the workarounds to enable me to keep a sense of normality on here. After 20 years on ebay I hate what they are doing, making everything so difficult for everyone.

Hello Grahamsmith …. Several of us would agree that probably eBays biggest mistake has to be their introduction of SD and making it compulsory.
SELLERS SHOULD NOT BE LOOKING FOR LOOPHOLES IN TRYING TO AVOID SD.
eBay have a total disregard for those sellers wanting to use Large Letter, doing it themselves at their local Post Office counter at a lesser postal rate than eBay dictates it wants on SD.
The irony, under £20 and you are covered by Royal Mail so SD offers nothing whatsoever.
It’s sorry to read you and others have left eBay, and probably more will follow.
Whilst some newcomers will join eBay, no business can afford to lose others that have for several years been supportive and loyal to their brand.
It’s eBays own doing with what they have implemented in the past 12 months.

Thank you so much for that. It echoes my sentiments entirely. We should NOT have to try to circumvent SD, we should be banding together to complain and force eBay to put things back to the way they were.

What an unnecessary malarkey (with no reflection on your ingenuity)!

You have to follow my workarounds exactly - those that do have no problem. Editing an item unfortunately will negate all the hard work in making out the listing. Use preview rather than listing without checking everything.
Though I don't know why you edited it to change the weight and size as there is no need to because you are selecting your own courier. Weight and size has no relevance once you are selecting your own courier.

It's a nightmare. I'm done with ebay...

Booked a collection from Royal Mail. First time I have done this. Been looking out for postman but he drove off before I could get out to him. He did not knock or anything just left the post.

That's a shame, I've found the service excellent. If it's today you're talking about, you may find he comes back later if that's more convenient on his round. Sometimes here a different postie comes for it a bit later in the day. I would also check you got the right day: I need to book by about 11pm the night before. Hope that helps.

When booking the free Royal Mail collection through eBay it seems to have an earlier cut off than when using RM website, about 20:00.
Someone wanted express delivery and I could go to the post office the next day, Saturday, so arranged the collection. Ebay said it had to be sent by Sunday...not possible here (I know some POs are open on Sundays) but the collection was for Monday, hopefully the customer is understanding.
