Yes, I think some of us will never quite recover from Simple Delivery... 👻

They threw the silly gauntlet let them deal with the repercussions
Ive been at this from February
2025 is my personal year of remember in my memoirs under had loads of spare time spent it with simple delivery 🙄🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
despite the aggro it’s been entertaining
and I’ve missed out on so many tv dramas have to catch up now
But its also meant I’ve interacted with many people with similar problems and I pass on what I’ve learnt which is ok really

Can I suggest people try this option - it requires desktop and the Bulk Edit feature.....
Ive just been through 4 representatoves talking utter BS regarding simple delivery and was about to simply delete all of my items and "SD ebay" (Simply Discard Ebay). However I selected all items and bulk edited the postage - some of which were SD enforced when i wrote the adverts. The Bulk Edit Tool let me change 1, 2, 10, 30 items from enforced Evri/Royal Mail to Parcelforce and DHL.
I dont know if it will continue working or if it was just fluke but hopefully this helps somebody.

Ok, so the solution to the crazy 'prohibited by SD' problem is to fool Ebay into restoring custom postage, by changing the item price to £800 and selecting an oversize parcel.
As per the solution here

Wonder if it works for vinyl singles? The return of items sold with £1.55 large letter postage is on!

Simple delivery. Is hopeless and confusing. With some ruthless buyers take full advantage

I have just taken a lot of stuff of Ebay now and won't be selling anymore on it
Simple delivery is not simple

That solution was to enable people to send large parcels which is a normal service but one which SD does not deal with at all and which eBay hadn’t fixed in a month by allowing custom for large and heavier parcels
it wasn’t to fool the system it wa s a workaround to get the system to work as it should be working
if people want to use it for overriding sd if their items are not eligible for custom postage that’s their choice
there are other ways though less sneaky lol but which might not suit ie wrong category chosen
if people shop by category and not item title
I do think the exempt categories should not be limited to a £10 price though
it should be over £20 as there’s zero need for tracking at that price range

In what way are "ruthless" buyers taking full advantage?
My father has just had an item he sold go astray and message from ebay is basically "you sent with simple delivery so we'll deal with this\" (tho as actually a global shipping issue they are probably dealing with it).
Simple Delivery is more clicks than buying a label from ebay used to be.

I did this but it seems to have changed on my listing to whatever Ebay wanted it to be.
Have spent most of the morning trying to sort an issue with "Simple" Delivery that my buyer selected. Did eventually manage to speak with someone at Ebay (Halleluia!) It appears that all items now have to be sold with their simple delivery. So the buyer chooses whichever and pays Ebay purely for postage costs at a price that Ebay decides. We, as sellers, seem to have to provide everything else associated with posting for FREE as there is no way a seller can recoup the additional costs ie packaging, bubble wrap, tape and the trip to wherever the buyer decides, be it Evri drop off or Royal Mail. Therefore Ebay has made things far more complicated at a cost to the seller. I for one will be ceasing my activity once my current listings are done.

Simple delivery is just another badly thought through ebay idea. What gives them the right to decide how, with whom and how much my postage should be. It's just a tariff and a way for ebay to make money through the back door. Now my postage costs are being "taxed" and as well as being mandatory, they are definitely not "Simple". they are "Superfluous". In fact there was nothing whatsoever "Difficult" about the previous postage method which I thought was excellent. Yes, ebay need to stop fiddling. They have ruined a decent selling platform by too many rules and regulations disguised as ways to protect and "help" the seller.
Another crazy tariff is the so called "Buyer protection". It protect nothing and is just another tariff. Since it was applied, I have to constantly reduce my prices as buyers request a discount.
Ebay, you have messed up big style and will lose lots of revenue.

The first announcement that Simple Delivery was coming to be mandatory for Private sellers was announced last October, to be starting on April 15th. It's been a very slow roll out , with some lucky sellers still being able to select Custom Postage up until now.
SD is mandatory, and here to stay.
For any packaging materials, simply add those costs to the price of the item, so you are not out of pocket.

I agree with you but I suspect that if SD is going to become mandatory (except for limited exceptions) then the need for creative/dodgy workarounds will continue and grow. Their AI database of all things will quickly become an unreliable mess (if it isn't already).
In the case of SD-prohibited items, like 1st/2nd class stamps, there's no safe way for a seller to send unless they manually opt out of SD (as described) and choose their own service, like RM tracked, to post them.
But then with cheaper SD-inappropriate items, like comics or dvds or vinyl singles, there's no way to send with standard postage unless you opt out of SD, which demands everything is tracked.
Ultimately it seems a bit futile Ebay reducing the buyer fees on a £2 large letter item from 80p to 24p when it still has to be sent tracked for £2.72.
