Is Simple Delivery mandatory now ? used to be able to select custom postage option but it’s not available now. Just tried listing and Simple Delivery is the only option for postage

I’ve removed all my promoted listings as new terms regarding promoted listings don’t seem fair or transparent. I’ve tried resisting and can still opt out of simple delivery but can’t opt out of promoted listing. Not tried listing from scratch yet and honestly losing interest in the platform.

I had the option "switch to advanced options' under the simple delivery details, from there I could do custom postage. These are all photographic related listings. Maybe other categories Forse SD?

Hi, I was the same but now ebay have taken that away and have changed all my listings to SD without my knowledge so please check your listings.

"Put it as 20kg
save draft
alternatively list it in a category that hasn’t got simple delivery , ie dining table or something"
These workarounds are getting ever more laboured (30 grand pianos for sale, anyone?)
Very soon it'll be:
1. create draft on ebay
2. choose another selling platform
3. list your item there

I have once again contacted eBay and received yet another suggestion from Bangalore or some such. As you can see in the reply below eBay wants to make it very difficult to list items. They appear to think as long as I charge the buyer MORE than the actual cost then it's OK. so I guess it's goodbye eBay hello Vinted.
"I would suggest you to first pack it up and and take its weight and dimension and then check with carrier directly to determine its postage cost.
Based on the cost, you can select any postage service where you do not end up asking for less from the buyer for postage cost. If you choose an incorrect postage and weight option, the buyer will pay you accordingly; however, when you actually go to buy the label, you might have to pay from your pocket or the buyer will be asked to pay extra postage."

Further to my last post, I've had another reply from eBay ((again from India) that says that as I am inputting a weight and length that does not support Evri then that is why I am only getting the Royal Mail options. This is just so wrong on many counts. (a) Nowhere can I select or input the weight and dimensions and (b) my package IS acceptable to Evri but NOT Royal Mail.
eBay ahave really screwed up this Simple Deliveyr business and their so-called customer service personnel are not helping matters.
Does anyone know how to contact eBay in the UK please?

try saving the listing before listing it..when you return and click on it custom postage should be there

Unfortunately that didn't work. But thanks for the suggestion.

Is this a Simple Delivery listing? if you can't put in any weights and dimensions I think it must be...
In which case ebay should be giving you their postage estimate. Are they?
If yes to both questions:
if you accept ebay's own estimated weight and size and postage costs, the post office and Royal Mail should accept the parcel regardless of how over or under-weight or size it is.
They deliver it , and ebay and RM settle up their differences later.
Under S.D. there should be no way a buyer has to pay extra to cover the difference/under payment.
As @subminman says Dublin is your best bet *if* you can get a call back from them.......
There ain't no ebay UK CS ☹️

How can eBay put their estimate of postage costs when they do not know either the weight or dimensions of the item. This is the crux of the matter. eBay 'estimate' that my item is no more than 60cm in length and creates a label for that size having requested the postage for that size from the buyer. I then take this item to the Post Office with the Royal Mail label that eBay supplied only to be told that (a) the item is too large for Royal Mail and (b) in any event the postage is insufficient for the weight of the item. Does eBay come along to my Post Office and tell them that it's OK to accept it? I don't think so.

This is exactly what I thought when I first read about 'Simple' Delivery weeks ago. Nor do they know what packaging you're going to use. Even I often don't know how much postage will be until I pack an item. Don't eBay staff sell things themselves? I don't expect the bosses do.

In the form of 'updates' and 'newlsetters' on the post office Horizon system (which is always right, of course...)
apparently yes... they do!
Ebay have made a deal with Royal Mail to deliver ebay packages with the words 'marketplace seller' on the label.
Even when the actual size or weight of the parcel doesn't agree with the price on the label. (Size/weight info shouldn't be on that 'marketplace' label either - just the cost.)
What *should* happen is the post office staff scan the label and put the parcel in the sack. *Without* weighing or measuring it and consequently worrying about discrepancies.
R.M deliver the parcel and sort out any over/underpayment with ebay afterwards.
I'm not sure, though, that ebay ever realised that Royal Mail and The Post Office are 2 separate companies which probably has something to do with the confusion 🙁
How ebay make their estimates of postage cost (without being in the room with you as you pack, weigh and measure it) is all down to the miraculous A.I. .....so we are told....
😶

I'm pretty sure that my local Post Office will notice that a 90cm long item is longer than they can physically deal with irrespective of the postage paid.
Also on two recent despatches they noted that eBay had charged for 'Medium Parcel' when in fact a Small Parcel postage would have been sufficient.... so yes they do check!

So, I listed this on VInted and sold within 48 hours at full asking price with buyer paying the correct postage. No hassle. Result!
