Hi,
Reluctantly, I will be ending my listings by the end of the week, but will probably be dragged kicking and screaming into simple delivery. Having created my first simple delivery listing as a test, just a couple of questions. I have thankfully excluded Evri from my listing by using the 'postage preferences' in my account.
Looking at the postage options in the listing once live, available to the buyer are two options, standard tracked and express tracked delivery. It doesn't specify what these are. Other than select parcel size, I was at no point able to select a royal mail postage service like previously. Is it, hopefully due to the compensation level, RM Tracked 48 and Tracked 24 ? Please not second class signed for, lol.
With the international shipping, i have not opted for international postage in the postage options tab, but confusingly the 'excluded locations' tab further down the page is still showing and there are no excluded locations filled in. Furthermore, does anyone know if you can include international postage for some listings, and opt out for others ? Previously, it was either a blanket yes or no.
Thanks to anyone who takes the time to reply and feel free to ask any other questions in the thread if you want to. Simple delivery, unfortunately is here.
Thanks

@suelel1968 wrote:I disagree, but thats ok. The tracking number is generated when you purchase the label. The PO copies it via the bar code scan and produce PoP. They are scanned to RM when they are collected and put into RM sysyem. The start date for tracking on ebay is the day you purchase the label. Means nothing other than you bought a label. Have you never had a defect from ebay saying you didn't post on time? The tracking number does not prove you posted on time, just that you bought a label. PoP is not monitored by Ebay, only RM scanning is monitored.
The only bit you seem to disagree on is whether the PO scan is integrated with RM. I can assure you that it is. When my items are scanned at the PO, the tracking is immediately updated on the RM website. How could that happen if it is only scanned to RM after collection from the PO?

Maybe we differ on type of postage. Perhaps real paid for tracked is, but non tracked, scanned on delivery is not. Thats what i use.

@wellingnorth wrote:I think it's just what you see on the listing page already under simple delivery > package size.
You should see 6 bands there
Up to 100g 24 x 16.5 x 0.5cm
Up to 750g 35 x 25 x 2.5cm
Up to 61 x 46 x 46cm split into 1 / 2 / 15 / 20kg
There is supposed to be an 'Up to 10kg' weight band aswell but for some reason that isn't currently showing when listing.

So where has the up to 100g up to 2.5cm bracket gone?
04-04-2025 3:23 PM
Why are the options missing weights between 2KG and 15KG?
I've just resorted to using 'advanced' shipping (the way I always did it with no problems) to get the prices correct and not risk an order being held by Royal Mail.
I really don't want this feature, I don't need it.

@neovass0 wrote:Since I started this thread for general questions, I may as well ask here. I sell books, most are borderline large letter / small parcel once in a mailer. If after a simple delivery sale, the label generated is for a large letter, but they don't accept it as the width is greater than the allowed 2.5 cm, and it has to go as a parcel, what do I do next ? Just pay again, then and there at the counter for Tracked 48. Is that allowed, I'll have a different tracking number, and will I still get paid if the original label isn't used ? Or will I have to go home and buy another label from ebay ? People in other threads have mentioned this problem. but other than cancelling orders, have not said what action they are actually taking, lol. To people who have actually made simple delivery sales, is it possible to adjust the postage and pay extra, before the initial label is printed out? Or are you locked in to whatever ebay automatically has charged you for ?
Just sold one on simple delivery and got these faqs on the order page:
What if I cannot drop off my item at my nearest drop-off location, or what if the carrier does not accept my package?
The carrier will not accept items into their network which do not comply with their terms and conditions of carriage, including any restrictions for the particular delivery service. Non-compliant items will also not be covered during transit. It is your responsibility to ensure the item you are posting is compliant with such terms. Please refer to eBay Delivery's prohibited and restricted items policy for further information. Please reach out to our customer service team if the carrier does not accept your package at the drop off location or you have concerns regarding your label.
Can I change the shipping service or add additional shipping options?
At this time, you can't change the shipping service or add additional shipping options.
What if I don't want to use the prepaid label?
If you do choose to purchase your own delivery label separately, this will be at your own cost, therefore if you would prefer to purchase your own label, you should aim to opt-out your item from the Simple Delivery experience at the point of listing. We will not reimburse you for the costs of using your own label. You will also not benefit from any enhanced cover for loss or damage to the item during transit. You must therefore deal with claims due to loss or damage in transit directly with the delivery service provider. You will need to check directly with the delivery service provider from which you have purchased the label for cover limits. Your seller performance standards and service metrics will not be protected for late deliveries if you do not use the prepaid label.

Agree, in theory but in practice, when PO scan the item, there are times when no tracking information is shown at all on RM website, not even the PO accepting the item, hense, why a proof of postage is required.

Of course Ebay accept it.

That weight band doesn't apply to Royal Mail Tracked 48 and 24. There is just one single weight band for Large Letter - Up to 750g (1kg from 7th April).

Yes, items sent using an untracked service will only show on the tracking once delivered whereas those sent using a tracked service will show once accepted at the Post Office.

OK, I didn't realise you were referring to non tracked services. I only use that for low value large letter size packages. For everything else I use RM48 as it's only 10p or 20p more than 2nd class for a fully tracked service with compensation up to £150 instead of £20.

well according to the latest blurb (cr.p) it is tough, you are getting it and everything in the e bay world is going to be just sunshine and roses. Of course i will not be bothered because i will have nothing on here to sell by the 7th! I just wonder why they come out with the rubbish they do!

Eve has contradicted what the community team here posted two days ago
hmmm
fragile items should be sent with SD …they are NOT exempt after all
i will continue to use Royal Mail 48
but why so expensive 3.74?? It is 3.45 dears
and why is it we have to pay MORE if we deselect one carrier? That’s discrimination and punitive
Id like to ship with Royal Mail at THEIR prices not ebays prices
She says by not deselecting one of the options you will reach more buyers
no….deselecting evri will not decrease the number of buyers
deselecting Royal Mail will
because evri don’t deliver everywhere
And I don’t want to ship with evri it’s a pain in the backside to travel to the shop !!!
I was willing to give the benefit of the doubt now I’m feeling a bit miffed at the controlfreakery
and they still have not made it clear (re the 100g under £10 exemption) whether a letter is just a letter or a letter OR a large letter
04-04-2025 9:17 PM
well as a buyer currently i will not buy off anyone using EVRI so surely my seller range is already limited!! As i said before the rubbish they are coming out with... It is their site and they can do what they want but do not expect all of us to just go along with their poor excuses for a poor system.
04-04-2025 9:22 PM
I hear you
I put 3.74 on my previous post
it’s actually going to be 4.27 if I deselect evri, which is even worse
next stop
deselect ebay me thinks until they get their sense back
im not going to charge 4 flipping 27 for a 3.45 small 48 tracked I assume parcel ….i bet they’re not giving Royal Mail 4.27 so why should they pocket the difference for nothing

Unfortunately from the listing we won't know if its evri as all we will see with simple delivery is 'standard' and 'express', no courier info until the seller uploads the tracking code after we have purchased.
Other option - ask the seller each time we see something we want to buy how they will send the item.

This is mad ,how are we supposed to know if the buyers name or address is correct ...........................If you experience any problems with a Simple Delivery label, the following tips may help:

If the seller hasn't opted out of either carrier then they won't now how it's being sent either until they receive the label from eBay.

If there is a problem with the buyers shipping address we could have just asked for clarification before doing the postage but with simple delivery we have to do the below. That's so bleep!
