I am close to closing all my listings from Ebay as I am now forced to use the awful Simple Delivery. It may be simple but it is total rubbish and a huge con. I have just gone to list a dvd in a slim case, it weighs less than 100g so it would have cost me £1.55 to post 2nd class. Now thanks to Simple Delivery Ebay will very kindly charge me £2.72 to post it 75% more than it should cost 😡😡😡.
Why do they think this is going to improve and increase their business? I am seriously considering moving all my items over to Vinted.
Anyone else having the same issues with it?

Unless you choose free postage the buyer pays the postage under Simple Delivery.

Yes but if I am trying to price at the lowest price then either way whether I pay postage or the buyer pays postage I still have to take it off my selling price to be cheapest and I am now having to take more off the price than I had to before Simple Delivery so I am making less from the sale.

Exactly. Simple Delivery along with the equally ridiculous Buyer Protection tax make it very difficult for Sellers to price low value items competitively, and confuses Buyers, particularly if you want to list at a specific price point (say £9.99)
As you’ve said, something you could send for £1.55 now costs £2.72. You can’t possibly absorb that cost on a low value item, nor can you expect many sales of you pass the cost on to Buyers. If you ask for Proof of Posting at the Post Office, your £1.55 already includes up to £20 compensation for Loss, so Simple Delivery @ £2.72, with its alleged protections is superfluous and expensive. It’s all just a money making scam for eBay, who treat their customers (buyers and sellers) with utter contempt.

When I list a dvd custom kicks in automatically and suggests 1.55 large letter
Other times SD defaults but custom is a toggable option (obviously glitchy)
DVDs are on the SD exemption list but for some reason some people get custom when listing that sub category and some dont
That’s the problem
eta forgot to say it needs to be under £10

Ed Dreams is right. You should see this. It may be that you have to select "large letter" in SD in order to get the Custom button to come up. If not, get on to CS tomorrow morning or send them an Email. I sent them an email this morning and they sent a link for sending screen shots etc. Don't end your listings, remember all the time it took to set them up.
