As a private seller using Simple Delivery, is there any way at all to get your item collected by Royal Mail postman or Evri courier, rather than having to take it to Post Office/Evri shop yourself?
Reason: My local post office is shut for renovations for a whole month(!), they do both RM and Evri drops, leaving me stuffed without having to go miles away, AFAICT.
Unless anyone has any better ideas?

Yes, collection is available with Simple Delivery through Royal Mail. So opt out of using Evri here:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/ship/prf
When your item is sold and after you've generated a prepaid label on eBay, book your collection on the Royal Mail website. More info:

Thanks for the info. Bit annoying having to book collection separately, though. Presumably this is as RM now charge 30p for it (Evri charge a much higher than non-collection variable amount extra, but even if you are prepared to pay, seemingly you can't book it separately!).
Another Q:
Can you get Royal Mail to bring the postage label using Ebay's Simple Delivery (then booking collection), or do you have to print it yourself?
While the RM website says under Collection only:
I just tried a test check-out on an item I had an RM tracking number for, but no option is there to select "bring label"... confusing?

I'm fairly sure last time I saw it discussed on here, the seller has to print the label. RM bringing the label may happen sometime in the future.

That's rather weird. So RM are not offering to bring a label for paid-for 30p collections for Ebay orders?
This, despite saying on the collections page they do bring labels:
That's not contradictory at all?! 🙄

First sentence - I thought that was your question anyway.
What page are you referring to with "This, despite saying on the collections page they do bring labels: "? Please provide the web address.
It's quite possible my memory is wrong, feel free to find the appropriate option and let us know.

They do bring a label if you buy the postage direct from Royal Mail.
With Simple Delivery they can't bring a label, you have to print one off yourself.
When arranging for a collection you have to put in the tracking number and just follow their instructions as if you had paid them.

Yes, if requested during buying it.

That's what we've established.
After you've had to buy Simple Delivery on Ebay, you can then optionally go to the RM link above and pay 30p for collection – BUT (as we've established) you currently cannot get them to bring the label (for unknown reasons).

Until recently the 'Bring your labrl' service was only available if collection was booked at the same time as purchasing the postage and not when booked separately. It does appear from what you have highlighted there though that this may now have changed. No idea whether it would work with a Simple Delivery label but can't really see why it wouldn't.

Read the other thread linked to; it doesn't offer the being label to you for Simple Postage, yet.

Most of the posts in the other thread are over a month old. The bit that you highlighted on the Royal Mail website is a much more recent change although I can see that you have already tried with a Simple Delivery label to no avail. Ebay are supposed to be working on an integrated printerless collection option with Royal Mail, so hopefully it won't be too much longer before it becomes available.

When/if it does, it'll still likely be an additional 30p charge... I suppose it's to be expected.
But then you have the additional question:
If private sellers have both Evri and RM selected as Simple Del options, presumably you will have to deselect Evri completely if you want collections with or without bringing label, as if Ebay only offer you Evri when making the listing (which isn't made clear, unfortunately, but can be guessed at from the SD prices list - under "Which couriers are available and what are the postage rates?"), you'd have to print & drop at Evri store. Worse, deselecting one of the services makes the prices higher, per the chart.

What is the "question"? It already tells you to deselect Evri, in the picture you've posted, if you want collection. (As well as costs might then increase and your items may then be available to fewer buyers.)
I'm not sure what you mean by "as if Ebay only offer you Evri when making the listing". If you mean you've deselected Evri but the item can't go Royal Mail Simple Delivery for some reason (e.g. too big) then it could/does go by Evri (if within Evri's sizing) - I don't know if you get any warning etc. from ebay when listing. I would assume you still get the benefit of the "both carriers selected" price - but it is certainly possible that ebay may not agree with me! I'm not on mandatory SD, I'm not sure if I can set up a test listing to try it - if I can I'll update. Of course, whatever happens for me on the day I do it, maybe different for another user, or even for me on the following day!
(In the reverse situation where you've deselected RM, but a buyer is in a postcode not covered by Evri, then it could/does go by RM - you wouldn't know when listing who is going to buy - I don't know if you get any warning if someone makes an offer, and I don't know if you get the chance to back out if the item sells to a buyer in a postcode not covered by Evri - I doubt it other than existing cancellation methods.)

Sorry, yes I forgot that it actually said that. While they state Evri should be deselected, you get hit with those other issues: often a higher shipping price and/or fewer buyer, as you said. Also that link states "Plus, there’s no fee for collection when done through eBay." ...when the service begins in future. So no 30p extra charge it seems.
So my proxy, they're pretty much incentivising non-collection and sellers manually dropping at post office/drop shop (printing can always be done at the drop, provided its a place that prints and their machines are working!).

"as if Ebay only offer you Evri when making the listing"
Meaning, you have both selected in your options, but the price that appears for shipping on the listing page is an Evri price – e.g. If it states £2.94, according to the table this makes it Evri <1kg). But yes, often you can't tell from the price Ebay tell you.
To cut to the chase rather than going round in circles, basically at this precise moment Evri has to be removed if private seller wants item collection. And if seller wants courier supplied labels, they'll have to wait until Ebay & RM allow it, hopefully sooner rather than later. (Why RM posties are simply not supplied with portable print-on-demand machines to do them on the fly, is another point to wonder about; likely cost! 🙄)
Over the next few months, Simp-Del will be the only option for most private sellers for most of the their items; so everyone will have to use it, anyway.

I tried to set up a dummy listing for a walking stick - too big for RM but OK for Evri - it just sent me back to custom postage as I'm not on mandatory SD.

Just been hit with this today. I always have Royal Mail collect my packages and they bring the label. Now I am forced to use "Simple" Delivery, where I cannot do this anymore. I cannot even dispatch the parcel someone's purchased. This is an absolute joke eBay.
Congrats on ruining eBay. Dumb AI slop descriptions plaguing everywhere that are useless and inaccurate, dumb "relevant" sorting of feedback instead of most recent, BS greed ad costs where you're forced to pay ad costs if anyone views your listing through the ad even if the eventual buyer didn't go through the ad, the BS protection fees making it RIDICULOUSLY complicated to just see and set the price you want your item to be advertised at or through offers, and now this BS "Simple" Delivery being forced down our throats.
Absolute joke. Whoever is running this show is flat out making every moronic decision you can make. I'm out. After 2 decades of eBay, I'm going with other platforms from now on. Congrats on achieving optimal idiocracy!!!!!!

Oh yeah, and the removal of formatting in the mobile app, requiring a desktop computer just to space out lines/paragraphs in descriptions. And the regular occurrence of descriptions in draft listings converting to gibberish code in the mobile app if stored longer than a few days. Thanks for those too!!!! Brilliant changes!!
