Simple Delivery - Click & Collect only available with Evri?

With Simple Delivery is it still possible to do the old style Click & Collect from branches of Argos, etc with an eCP number?

Or is it only supposed to work if you have Evri enabled and to collect from Evri shops?

Re: Simple Delivery - Click & Collect only available with Evri?

Hi marco@ebay
Thanks for your reply about this in the chat earlier, I don't think this is to do with location availability.
I cannot see any simple delivery items that allow Click & Collect to Argos or Collectplus stores, only to Evri stores.

@mygaras  , you said you were seeing the same thing, perhaps you can confirm here what your experience is?

To come up with some examples I tried a search that will return largely Simple Delivery items
"Denim Jacket", UK only, buy it now, private seller, click and collect

This is the link:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_fsrp=1&rt=nc&_nkw=denim+jacket&_sacat=0&LH_BIN=1&LH_PrefLoc=1&LH_...

First of all looking at items around £2.94 delivery (seller has evri enabled).
For example https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/116738691207

Click and collect shows @ £2.26, store options are Evri only.

This seems to be consistently the case for items with shipping at £2.94.

Then to find items that are not Simple Delivery look for odd delivery prices.
For example £5.40: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/205678912670
Click & Collect shows, store options are CollectPlus and Argos stores.
Same applies to these similar listings:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/297551705689

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/157166753930

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/276464400427

Then items with £3.38 delivery (Simple Delivery but Evri is not enabled or not used?)
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/176493205330

This does not show Click & Collect at all.

I assume Click & Collect may be enabled at account level which explains why the item is in the search results, but Click & Collect does not appear on the item listing page at all.
The same applies to these with delivery @ £3.38
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/326345722392

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/197375464912

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/356609281196

On the other hand the following items also have delivery at £3.38 Simple Delivery
This time Click & Collect does show @ £2.26, BUT again store options are Evri only
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/177319719539

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/146641077547

Perhaps there's something else going on here, but I definitely couldn't see any Simple Delivery items with Click & Collect to Argos or CollectPlus, maybe you can consult with the relevant teams at your end and work out what's happening?

Hi @wellingnorth

Yes, this is exactly what I've experienced.  Unfortunately the moderators removed my post from the Weekly Chat due to a policy violation -

  • "Please note that any reply without a question to the community team or discussion replies may be removed from the chat. We want to keep on track to get through as many questions as possible. We welcome all discussion to be moved to the discussion boards. "

To confirm - I have Click & Collect enabled on my account, but only post using Royal Mail. Prior to mandatory Simple Delivery there were no issues with sending items to a C&C collection point, but now it doesn't seem possible to do this.

A buyer messaged me recently, requesting delivery via Click & Collect. I thought this was a bit odd, knowing that C&C is enabled on my account. However, a bit more digging showed that if RM is the only carrier selected in Simple Delivery, C&C is not available to buyers (see below, at bottom of post).

Confirmation that C&C is enabled on my account -

One of my listings where Simple Delivery isn't mandatory (note option for Click & Collect) -

C&C Available.jpg

One of my listings with mandatory Simple Delivery (note no option for Click & Collect) -

Having done a bit more digging, I found this statement on the Simple Delivery help page

----

Your buyers can now take advantage of Click & Collect via Simple Delivery to save 15% or more on delivery costs** and collect their orders from an Evri pick up location that's convenient to them. Be sure to select Evri as one of your preferred couriers in yourPostage Preferencesso buyers can use this option. Learn more about how Click & Collect works for buyers on eBay, or startselling now with Click & Collect.

So, that would seem to confirm that C&C is only available via Evri.

Thanks for replying, that's unfortunate that your comment was removed, I can understand if it's random comments or off-topic, but backing up what other users are reporting is often quite helpful to confirm that it's not a one-off!

It was more or less the same for me - I relisted an item for a buyer and Click & Collect was on the original listing, but not the relisted item. I was scratching my head for ages trying to work out why until I realised the relisted item was Simple Delivery. Then I saw that enabling Evri turned it back on for the listing, you'll probably find the same if you try it on your account, it seems to switch it back on instantly for all Simple Delivery items, but to Evri shops only.

That is a good find, I was just looking at the Click & Collect page here:

https://pages.ebay.co.uk/clickandcollect/

Marco, I wonder if you might be able please to confirm if this is the policy now? - ie that Argos & CollectPlus Click & Collect are not available for Simple Delivery items and that Click & Collect will only be available if you have Evri selected as a courier?

Thank you very much for this, that sets it out quite clearly, that information would be useful on the Click & Collect page as well, which would have saved all the messing about I did trying to work out what was going on in post 2 (on the plus side I now have plenty of offers for denim jackets!!)

marco@ebay thanks for your update on the community chat as well, pointing to the same link as @xyz307xyz above. If you'd be able to pass on feedback on this policy that would be great.

Not being able to offer Click & Collect to Argos or CollectPlus stores with Simple Delivery means less choice for buyers so this is disappointing.

Having to enable Evri to allow any Click & Collect at all is also disappointing.

Many sellers do not have Evri enabled for good reason, for example not having a convenient dropoff point nearby or frankly just preferring not to use Evri due to its reputation.

From my personal point of view I would not mind using Evri if it were clear to the buyer that that was the service that was going to be used. In the past I have regularly had buyers contact me specifically to confirm that I am not using Evri and the way it is set up currently with just 'standard' / 'express' delivery there is no way for me to assure them which service is used if I have Evri have turned on at the account level.

If you allowed buyers to see / choose between Royal Mail or Evri I would turn it back on and I'm sure other sellers may well feel the same.

Bizarrely, when printing off a Simple Delivery Royal Mail label this morning, the banner at the top informed me that I could drop my parcel off at a Collect+ store. So, if the processes are in place for sellers to drop off at Collect+, perhaps it could easily be re-enabled for buyers to collect from there too?

Re: Simple Delivery - Click & Collect only available with Evri?

I suppose the difference is that the original Click & Collect you could could send using any service to any store Click & Collect whereas this Evri Click & Collect is strictly Evri Dropoff to Evri Collection point. I can appreciate there are cost savings with that and the Evri collection price is good, but it would be good if they could add the other ones back in even if they were a higher price.

Frankly if it was possible to enable Evri just for Click & Collect I would do that - I personally only order using Evri when I can collect because with home delivery the courier often leaves the parcel on the street without ringing the bell!

I don't believe ebay will allow buyer to choose between R.M. and Evri.

Ebay are well aware of Evri's dreadful reputation and that a significant amount of buyers would prefer to use R.M. .. and giving buyers the choice would probably run against something-or-other in the contract between ebay and Evri!

There are three separate "Click & Collect" services.

The first is one operated by (Argos owner) Sainsbury's. The second is the Collect+ network which is operated by PayPoint - this is when the collection point is a business such as a convenience store or a petrol station. The third is Evri's.

It seems to me that only Evri's C&C network is available to the buyer when a Simple Delivery label is involved.

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.
