Seeking Guidance on eBay Seller Hub – Looking for a Mentor

Hello eBay Community,

I hope everyone is doing well. I’m currently learning to navigate and understand the eBay Seller Hub, and I’m looking for someone experienced who could kindly guide me through the process.

If there’s anyone here who could offer mentorship or share their expertise about managing the Seller Hub effectively, I would be truly grateful for your support and guidance.

Thank you in advance for your time and help!

Hi,

Go to eBay Help at top of the page and type in 'eBay's Guidelines for New eBayers/Sellers' - it is an easy read.

Anything that you find relevant you can look on you Hub page and see how to use.

It is best to start by selling cheaper items at first to gain experience and build up your seller's rating to over 10 (this can be viewed on your Feedback page).   New or Infrequent Seller's funds can be on hold for up to 28 days this is so eBay can assess how the New Seller is handling their sales.

It will get easier, but you can always come back to this eBay's Members Forum if you need help.

All the best.

Hi there, anyone here can help with specific questions, just go ahead and ask them. There's also an excellent Business Seller board you can check out and ask questions on too.

Having just had a quick glance at your feedback page I would untick the box on the listing tool that says "keep bidders identities hidden" - this means that when somebody checks your feedback profile, instead of seeing the listing title of the sold item they see 'private listing', like this:

Transparency is important for any business, and it's good for potential buyers to see what products you've sold that buyers are leaving positive feedback and comments for.

@globaltradrs Please ignore my comment about private listings - I now see that these are for items you've bought, not sold.

As advised, there is a lot of guidance in eBay Help such as: eBay Photo Tips, Feedback Policy, and link to Business Companion Guide. Best to start there, start selling, and come back here with any issues that arise which Help doesn't cover in detail so that experienced Sellers can help with specific queries.

Hi, @globaltradrs if you have never sold before, set up a private selling account and do some practice runs with stuff ftom your wardrobe. It is a very steep learning curve just for private sellers, it could be a very costly mistake for new business sellers.

FWIW

Good photos are top priority. Lots of angles, labels and get the colour right and consistent on all photos. If you are going to sell clothes, get a dummy and set up a good background or remove backgrounds with software.

Set up templates for listings. Add disclaimers about colours looking different on other screens, photos forming part of description, and reiterate your despatch policy. I use 3 days, which would not be ideal for a business, but it does mean that I only have to post twice a week. Monday and Thursday.

Don't use the AI generated descriptions.

Keep good records, even for private sales. You might need to report to HMRC even if you owe nothing.

Never get into an argument with a buyer. Learn to give in and move on.

Have Ebay CS on speed dial......
