I think the UK Budget may be a reason people are not spending.

Budget, Bonfire Night, Halloween, Half-Term......ask any retailer about November sales!

Not had a sale since 30th October absolutely dire on here

the real reason e bay is dead is there is just hardly anyone here now
e bays greedy quest for a bigger slice of the cake squeezing sellers for more fees and reporting sellers to HMRC after £1,000 or 30 sales has just caused a mass exodus to other platforms or people have just given up selling.
the lightbulb has finally come on at e bay hq and they have realised this but far too late
hence the tv advertising to try and entice sellers to return but i think without little sucess.
they could always try what evri did rebrand and go back to the original format pierres started e bay with because i think once they introduce vinted style buyer style
premiums in january it may be the last nail in e bays coffin
still waiting for buyers !!

Its just the lull before Christmas.
People are saving their money for xmas presents.
03-11-2024 11:03 PM
Yes eBay may be trying to attract more sellers but the way i look at it is everyones sales are dire for all reasons stated but there has been a lack of buyers which has got worse over the last 3 or 4 months. Just look on the bright side, the fact is Christmas is around the corner and it might encourage the buyers that are left to purchase a few items.

Same and today one only. Normally this time of year on the run up to Christmas it's normally 15-20 per day. Now it's hardly any.
still get the automated email of saying you can be a top rated seller

I've had a friend look at one or two of my listings to see if the viewings are being shown on my site.
The results are:
- no viewings shown on my site from the items he viewed.
- when I checked on my Traffic results, it does not show the Organic views against the Promoted & Outside views on all my items at the same time.
- my site keeps directing me to eBay.com if I look at the Discussion Forum - this has been going on for approx. 2 weeks. I've seen that other members have reported this.
- Spell check shows every word is underlined for the last 2 weeks.
To compare My Sister's Private Account is showing Traffic for Promoted, Organic and Outside views & appears to be running normally.
My opinion is that my eBay Shop fees are wasted as I'm not getting the what I pay for.

Yep, i'm still getting sent to .com............................ Titanic.

Todays Update.
The problems in Message 12 still continue,
but now add 'It's not you it is us' for the last 12 hours.

Do both?, ive sold a few bits over there you just have to be reasonable with what you ask and be willing to take offers. There is a buyer facing fee after all but I do like the postage element where they pay and you just pack it and drop off.
Im pretty sure theres no t&c to say you cant list on a million sites as long as you keep track of stock, naturally defects and bad feedback will soon get you suspended. Saying this ive heard of people getting in trouble for using 3rd party software.
I find Ebay you are dealing with 35+ customers and Vinted 18-40ish neither of which will never go near the other site so no real harm in trying to sell to both
05-11-2024 2:36 PM
*ever go near the other site

if i may quote the leench from another thread ...by the way if you are reading this thank you..
It's another reason why so many private sellers have deserted ebay. These days it's really only re-selling businesses that have the time, patience and inclination to winnow out decent, genuine items from the mountains of irrelevant (but sponsored) items that ebay throws into the search results and all over every listing. (Who would have thought that a search for "19th century tea bowl would have results of about 12,000+ to sift through Only four times, out of all the items I've listed this year, has a buyer paid the (always reasonable) asking price. When an item doesn't sell, it no longer automatically means that it's over-priced, it just means that there isn't enough profit for the resellers to take an interest, so reducing the price just plays into their hands.
Ebay has stitched-up private sellers with the combination of doing away with the old, easily searchable categories and replacing them with huge new ones, send / make an offer and sponsorship fees. None of them have speeded-up sales as ebay said they would. It has reduced sales in collectable and niche areas to the point where private sellers can be held to ransom by resellers for want of any other buyers.
I've sold 4 items this year at the asking price and I'd guess they were the only genuine private buyers who managed to find my items. To me that shows how few real buyers ebay has these days and why every month we see at least one new thread about "Sales collapse in (add each month as it goes by)". Things aren't going to improve while most of the "buyers" here are only looking for "bargains" to resell.
i think that tells you in a nutshell what ebay has become

I had loads of sales 2 weeks ago and now its gone absolutely dead. So defo just the lull before the storm. Hoping Evri do their deal like last year when they drop package shipping rates to £1.90. Atm RM lose about 30% of mine and its so hard to claim on them (to be fair i am using their cheapest service but its the only service that is feasible for some of my low cost items)
