SIMPLE DELIVERY - ABSOLUTE JOKE

Perhaps everyone would like to start a similar post ?    If forum gets flooded with new topics all saying this system is a joke,  just maybe someone will notice.

SIMPLE DELIVERY - ABSOLUTE JOKE

There's been an ongoing furore about it on these forums for several months.  The majority of threads on Seller Central are about Simple Delivery - either complaining about the principle of it, or because of problems with it.  One thread is 400+ pages long, and there are multiple other threads about it.  Many people have said that they've stopped selling because of SD and many have also stopped buying, either in protest or because selling funded their purchases.  Ebay know exactly what people on this forum think about SD, but the only thing that will make a difference is if ebay gets hit where it hurts most - in the pocket, by people stopping selling and buying, whether they post on this forum about it or quietly take their bat home without comment.

The forum has been flooded,  re the introduction of Simple Delivery.

Result?  Simple Delivery is still here.

@margell-7274 as much as I dislike all the changes over the last year, flooding the forums doesn’t help the voluntary mentors or community team to help those that have other problems.

As others have said there have endless threads about it since for the last 8 months.

SIMPLE DELIVERY - ABSOLUTE JOKE

Can you just post using your own label and add the tracking number like before? I will over ride this stupid system If i have to, Or can you not add a custom tracking number anymore?

Are buyers going to show common sense and select the correct postage for the value, i mean if im selling a £600 graphics card I will be wanting that as special delivery minimum. Obviously at own personal cost.

Has anyone had any luck just selling and using their own postage and adding the tracking number? I would rather do that.

SIMPLE DELIVERY - ABSOLUTE JOKE

The forum has loads of posts about SD moans, including one thread that has been going on since it was first made mandatory at the end of March.  8000+ posts on that one.

There are also 20000 reviews on Trustpilot, with an average of 1 star.  They haven't replied to a single one.  That tells us a lot about eBay's attitude to disgruntled users.   They are big enough - and arrogant enough - to think that 20000 angry customers can be ignored.  I understand your anger and sense of betrayal, but clogging up the forum with more complaints about SD just makes it harder for people with other issues to get noticed and receive the help they need.

As someone else said, the only thing that will hurt them is eroding their bottom line through not selling/buying, or at least reducing activity.    However, they have promised great things to shareholders through the 'new revenue stream' that is Simple Delivery,  so if those promises do not deliver they will ultimately have to explain themselves.

There is clearly concern amongst eBay execs that things are not going to plan, as demonstrated by the slight U-turn re BPF and payment release, but Simple Delivery might be a little more difficult for them to wriggle out of even if they wanted to.    They will be locked into contracts with RM and Evri, so they won't be abandoning it any time soon.

SIMPLE DELIVERY - ABSOLUTE JOKE

Post Office refused two of their labels this morning.    Cannot be scanned into system.

So that's it.

Have put all my listing on "time away" until they sort it out.

Lucky I can do that.    Sorry for anyone who cannot.

I have also put a Time away banner on.  My listings still have the option of custom delivery although I don't know how long that will last, but I am still too nervous to sell anything at the moment.

It isn't just the logistics of using the SD system that worries me, but all the ambiguity about what happens if sales go wrong, such as conflicting information about what is covered and what isn't covered etc. You are expected to have read and digested all of their terms and conditions.  Other threads and the reviews on Trustpilot suggest that private selling on eBay is a minefield at the moment so it just isn't worth it.  It seems that the whole platform is rife with dodgy buyers and sellers.

Whether it's the new BPF fee that is attracting dodgy buyers with the sole purpose of exploiting it,  or eBay feeling they need to justify charging it in the first place, I don't know, but it seems that private sellers - many of 15 years plus sales and 100% feedback - are getting ripped off left right and centre.  eBay seem to be siding with the buyer in such situations, and if people complain they find their accounts (and any money owed to them) frozen.

So sad that what was once an enjoyable platform to buy and sell on has been ruined.
