Re: SENDING LETTERS TO USA POSTAGE

I've also been told this by our local PO, no sending to the US except by trackable method. Hopefully it's just while they get to grips with the new US tariff system.

Have you tried buying postage online from the RM website, does the same apply? I would assume that it does but haven't tried it myself.

"I've also been told this by our local PO, no sending to the US except by trackable method. Hopefully it's just while they get to grips with the new US tariff system." - This was the latest I have seen from Royal Mail regarding deliveries from 29th August (my bold):

"We want to help you carry on sending goods and gifts to the USA and keep your costs to a minimum. Postage costs will remain the same for the new PDDP services as they are for the previous equivalent Royal Mail USA services.

There are some administrative fees associated with the new US requirements that will apply to goods and gifts. These fees will be clearly communicated, at the online checkout or at the Post Office, so you’ll know the total amount to pay before you complete your purchase."

Re: SENDING LETTERS TO USA POSTAGE

Postage costs are the same though, it's just that Royal Mail will not accept mail/packages to the US unless sent by a trackable method, so the problem is that small low value items that would previously be sent untracked and by cheapest way possible can't be sent unless a trackable service is paid for.

Re: SENDING LETTERS TO USA POSTAGE

On the Click & Drop website, I'm still able to send to the US using untracked services. For HS codes that come under Informational Materials, I just get charged the new 50p admin fee but it's not forcing a tracked service.

Ive just sent ‘normal’ mail. Birthday card to my sister. I just threw stamps on it like I usually do.  My sister will let me know if its arrived ok. Its a good test to see if letter mail is getting through ok.
