Double postage?

I am a newbie seller to eBay.  I have collectable toys for sale and someone offered to buy 8 if I bundled them at a discount.  I ended the listing for all 8, created a discounted bundle, charged the buyer for postage.  eBay suggested Royal Mail special delivery due to the cost and the amount of compensation needed.  The buyer paid almost £20 postage.

When I came to print the label for postage, eBay charged me for postage before the label could be printed.

Does anyone know why we have been charged twice for postage within the UK?  Any clues / tips would be appreciated 👍

Double postage?

You haven't been charged twice.  If you are using custom postage, which Royal Mail Special Delivery would be, instead of eBay's Simple Delivery, then the buyer is paying you for the postage not eBay and you will receive that amount as part of your proceeds.  You then need to purchase the postage either on eBay or outside of eBay, hence why you are being charged for the postage when creating the label.

Double postage?

Many thanks, that explains it. Simple delivery not an option for this sale and Special delivery recommended for the compensation amount. I live and learn! 🙂
